It really depends on the intensity and type of exercise you're doing. If you're running, or lifting heavy weights, you're performing a fairly intense exercise. Until your muscles adjust to the exercise regimen, they build up lactic acid after you work out, causing the muscles to feel sore the next day. If you're feeling really sore, your body is trying to tell you to slow down! Don't jump too fast into an exercise regimen--it is the quickest way to injury. Instead, gradually increase the exercise so that your body can adjust to handle it.

no there not...LOL trust me...if your not sore the next day you didnt really challenge your muscles...at least in my opinion...and your supposed to give yourself 1 day to rest...because its expected for you to be sore...

You need to cool off longer. Lactic acid builds up in the muscles when the muscles are used. Cooling off lets your body flush the acid out of your muscles. Don't forget to drink alot of water and take a multivitamin. Cramps can be cause by dehydration and lack of calcium.

if its the 1st time u start excercising, it should happen, coz it happens wen someone has just start excercising or working out

are you lifting weights or doing aerobic stuff?

if I want to gain muscle then I do more weight, less reps, go for muscle failure and that tears the muscles and I feel sore a couple days later.

when I do a lot of reps I get a energizing sweaty calorie burning work out that -i hope- attacks more fat than muscle and I usually don't feel sore later. In fact, I usually feel like doing it again.

You also need to do stretching. It just takes a few minutes, after exercise, but it's very important!
If you do it, probably you won't ache the next day.
