Yo, are there are specific benefits to eating fruits that are not yet completely!

Question: I'm talking slightly green bananas; plums and pears that are quite hard. I understand antioxidants levels go up with some fruit once it's ripe. But I like slightly green bananas and can't be arsed to wait for fruits to ripen sometimes - i'm just too hungry!

The starches haven't converted to sugars yet, so although there is less sugar, there is more starch so the carb content is still the same.. the glycemia number, though, is lower.

Also when I eat bananas that are TOO green, they are hard to open and they make my lips pucker.. which is a sign that it is poison (however all the poisons usually have been bred out of fruits we eat)

No specific benefits I can think of

You have to be a bit careful with unripened fruit, can give you quite a bad stomach ache, and the squits....

If anything, I want to say more fiber, but that's just a guess and I have nothing to back it up.

Yo, Dartez or Shemyia....do as you want...no benefits and no downside

Greener bananas contain more plantains which are believed to have many benefits, including being very good for the stomach lining.

Because they are less sweet, I suppose their sugar content is lower than that of ripe fruits. The only benefit I can see is lower calorie intake, if you can call that a benefit.

nickoscar.... That's a classic! I couldn't stop laughing!

It is the best time to eat them, you will develop immunities to all manner of diseases, believe me ,as kids the only fruit we ever got was what we scrumped, therefore we had to get to it before the owners picked them,(as they ripened) sure we had the runs occasionally, but that is no bad thing to have a good clear out, I am now 96, helped the Japs build a railway
through the jungle of thailand, still get a hard on at least 5 times a week, have buried 4 wives, now on my 5th, drives a
Honda FR-V, sings in a choir, does the gardenening, cooks dinner most days. Another thing we kids ate was any leaves from various trees, raw rhubarb, new shoots of the wild rose &
blackberry bushes, peeling off the thorns first, in fact we were so hungry,we ate anything that could be eaten and a few things that could,nt, I have never had a broken bone, the only time I have been in hospital was for a head wound, take no form of medication, and have only visited a doctor once sinceWW2.
