What do you snack when dieting?!


Question: I'm trying to lose some weight and have been snacking on peanuts alot! I want to let them go since they are a bit high on fat. Just looking for healthy, tasty other options.

Try almonds but no more than 1/4 cup per day PERIOD.
I also tend to snack on cottage cheese ~ Fat Free or low carb yogurt, rice cakes and any green veggies. I eat every 2-3 hours, small "meals" so I generally don't snack unless I have not been able to get in my "meal".
Drinking a glass of water also helps. Sometimes the body reads thirst as hunger and can't tell the difference.
Distraction also works well. If you feel hungry, do something else for 5-10 minutes and revisit if your still hungry since a lot of eating is done out of boredom or stress.

i love snacking on frozen grapes. soooo good! and obviously extremly healthy!

peanuts actually have a good fat in them that will also help keep your skin soft. i say to try and keep eating at least a few peanuts a day. carrot sticks, celery sticks, a salad, some grapes, a bowl of low fat cereal, low fat yougurt, rice cakes, cottage cheese, stawberrys, cherries, an apple, an orange, some pineapple, a banana, some whole grain toast with low fat cream cheese instead of butter or margerine are all good snacks

Try edamame! aka soy beans. I get a frozen bag of the cooked ones in Trader Joes for $1.50 I think. You take them out of their shell and just eat them plain. It's got more health benefits then the peanuts and less fat. And they are tasty and salty just like the nuts!

I eat Yoplait Light Fat Free Yogurt (100 cal). They have lots of different flavors that are pretty tastey. I get 100 Calorie packs (only one pack per day). Sometime's i will eat 1/2 a pack of peanut butter nabs (3 crackers = 90 cal's). I also eat eat Lean Cusines for lunch. I've been doind this along with staying on the tread mill for about 20 mins 5X's a week for 2 weeks and I've lost 4lbs. I know that's not that much yet, but it's the recommended 2Ibs per week. I only need to lose 10lbs. :) Also drink lots of water!

I love the kashi trail mix bars. They have nuts in them along with a little bit of dried fruit and lots of other very healthy ingredients. Other than that I snack on celery sticks with peanut butter ( just a little ), and carrots sticks or cut bell pepper with low fat dressing. Fat free yogurt is good too...or whole wheat crackers.

I try to vary my snacks. I like the Curves snack bars (especially the chocolate and peanut one), a little bit of popcorn (hold the extra butter), carrots, yogurt, the little 100 calorie packs (cookies, chips, etc.)
