I am also on a quest to lose 50 lbs. I started two weeks ago and lost weight. There is no easy way to do it. It takes commitment and no excuses. I joined the biggest loser club and found that getting a support network that you check in with everyday is very motivating. These people are in the same boat as you and I. To lose this weight in just 4 months is possible but you have to get support and let go of excuses. You have to workout everyday. Eat good calories (not empty) and drink lots of water. I am a mom with a young child so I tell you it is possible. I even make a workout doing daily activities. Like running up and down stairs with a basket of laundry in my hands 5 times in a row. Not sitting while I am watching TV, doing things like marching in place and doing toe touches. Turning on upbeat music while I am cooking or doing the dishes so that I feel the need to dance while I am doing it. Putting my son in the stroller (he is almost 3) and taking a brisk walk. Randomly doing pushups throughout the day. Everytime I have to go to the bathroom I'll first work my triceps 5-10 reps using the bottom stair of my staircase. I bought a jumprope and jump 100 times. That takes no time at all. You don't need a gym to work out so don't let that be an excuse. Find a group who will support and motivate you. It will be harder if you do it on your own.

Yes, a healthy weight loss program is 1 to 2 lbs per week. Do what you say and stick to a healthy, nutritious program along with exercise. I lost 30 lbs in 3 months.
