Is it possible to have a Zero Cholesterol reading?!

Question: Mine is 3.

Answers: Mine is 3.

dont think so - and with all those lovely naughty dairy products out there, who in thier right mind would want to be O?

Well that reading is probably your LDL bad cholestrol and not your good cholestrol reading as everyone has to have good cholestrol otherwise the cells in the body would not reproduce. This what I read anyway.

Therefore supposing what I read is true it would not be possible for a zero reading.

No it's not possible to have a zero reading.

There are several ways in which cholesterol is measured.

The most common (and what you read about)) is TOTAL cholesterol. In most countries (excluding USA) this is measured in mmol/l. Anything below 5.2mmol/l is desirable. There is also a lower limit however, of 3.5mmol/l. So if you TOTAL cholesterol is 3.0mmol/l this is unusually low. If you are on cholesterol lowering medication, you should be on a lower dose. Go speak to your doctor.

Other measurements of cholesterol are:

Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) the "bad" cholesterol and High Desnity Lipoprotein (HDL) the "good" cholesterol. Generally you want LDL <4.0mmol/l and HDL ABOVE 1.1mmol/l.

All up, ANY of those reading ZERO would be impossible.

For your info, low TOTAL cholesterol has been associated with an increased risk of depression, and suicide!

For those in USA, multiply these mmol/l figures by 39 to convert them into your units, or divide your value by 39 to compare to those discussed here.
