Does running effectively work for burning fat?!

Question: I asked this question once but I didn't specify that I wanted to shed some extra fat around my mid section. I have been jogging around the nearest school yard for the past 2 weeks now. I jog for only 20-30 minutes plus the walk to get there and back. To be more specific I went jogging three days out of the week, meaning I ran on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday while resting the in between days. I didn't see any fast results other than being able to finish my jog with out being sore. I haven't gone in about 2 weeks because of the rain and now that it's gone I want to go again. It's just that I read that men who do long jogs don't effectively loose body fat and that men should do sprints. Is this true? And if so what can I do that would help me drop some extra weight.

Jogging is ok for a warm up, but if you really want to lose some pounds you need some intensity in your workouts. Its sad to see all these fat people at the gym walking and jogging every day and not getting any results. Its because they are going through the motions, they're not pushing themselves. Intensity is the key. Sprints are awesome. Balls out weightlifting sheds pounds and builds muscle. Jump rope is a killer workout. Se if you can jump rope for 20 minutes, you'd fall over because its hard as hell. Spinning is another good areobic workout. Basically, as long as your pushing yourself and it hurts a little, your doing a good job. Once it stops hurting(in a good way), you need to step it up.

uh huh

Try joining a Spin class at your local gym because an hour of that burns atleast 400 calories.

Jogging three times a week is fine as it is also a form of cardio.

You should also do some sit-ups and crunches afterwards.

But what is more important is your diet. Watch what you consume (how many servings, calories etc) and drink a lot of water.

3500 calories = 1 pound

You automatically lose about 1300 calories a day from regular activities, and jogging may take off about 250 cals. So imagine if you're losing 1500 calories a day and you eat only 1000 calories. You'd lose 500 cals in a day. By the end of the week, you'd have lost 3500 calories and therefore, you'd have lost a pound.

What you've read is false, men who run long distance, do effectively loose body fat.

If you want to loose those flabs, keep it up with the running.
You should do curl ups or crunches every single day and remember to drink alot of water! ALOT !
