ALWAYS! with any man made hole you need to make sure that this- with a belly ring- lint does not get stuck in the hole, it stays a healthy color, use peroxide 3 days a week with a q-tip- to clean around the area, once a month take out the ring and use alcohol or peroxide to clean the ring it- self!
