Whats the best way for female to improve push ups?!

Question: I'm joining the Navy and I've got 4 months to improve my push ups... I thought I was doing ok until someone said that I was doing them all wrong... I wasnt going down far enough and was saggy/dipping in the middle.
I then adjusted and went down to make my arms almost right angles but my breasts seem to touch the ground when I get down there and I collapse after 2... should I go back to my knees and try and do female pushups with this teqnique and then go to the normal style after I can do them properly that way or should I stick to trying the normal push up as is?
also is it better to have hands wide apart ? and also my lower back hurts a little after I do them is this because I'm dipping in the middle?
I would appreciate any advice... this is a serious question so only serious answers please!

military - good on ya, im joining the army soon myself.

anyway, onto the question.

for a good pushup (non female version) keep your back perfectly straight bend down to about 90 degrees, dont worry about your breasts lol.

wide, close, and shoulder width push-ups work mostly the same muscles but the difference is the area the bulk of the work it is distributed to.

female pushups will still work the same muscles as the male push up, so id continue doing those, as ive heard doing male pushups can put stress on the womb.

heres a good site for exersizes and how to do the technique.

considered getting a 4 month gym membership?
thats what i did.

hope it helps, goodluck in the navy.

look in a mirror as you are doing them and make sure your form is good. and practice practice practice!!

Keep practicing the push ups the regular way, even if you only do 2 at first. Next time you build to 3, 4, & so on. I used to have a fitness instructor that said, "There are no such thing as girl push ups!"

For your back, keep your seat tucked under a little to avoid getting that arch in the lower back. This will help engage your core strength more.

Good luck!

i am in army jrotc, we do a lot of push ups ourselves.
you ought to try doing female push ups, and also try doing male push ups too.

do how ever many female push ups you want to do, then try to do that many male push ups.

you also might want to try building up your upper arm strength too.

one good way to start out is just staying in the front leaning rest position (the position you're in when you're about to do a push up), and holding it for like 30 secs and doing a few reps of that, and moving up to more time, it will help build your muscles... also, do lots of crunches and work on your core, which is really important
