Is it bad to take a two day rest from working out?!

Question: I work out about 5 days a week and I was just wondering if it is bad to take a two in a row day break. Like I have run 5 days this week, mon through fri and I was going to take the weekend off, is that bad to do?

You definantly want to take time off for your muscles to recover or you will just wind up doing more harm then good. Just dont get to the point where you dont want to go work out anymore. I did that and it was hard to get back in rythem, I just wanted to sit on my ars and do nothing. Then again I did take 2 full weeks off. Happy training

It is best to take the break in two seperate days. Your body only really needs one dya to recover so while the two won't do you any harm, spreading it out will leave your body in better shape throughout the week.

What I do is take wednesday and sunday off as this gives a roughly equal amount between the days but it doesn't matter what days really, which ever are more convenient for you.

Not at all. Your body needs time off for the muscle to rebuild. You break the muscles down during the work out. In order for them to recuperate they need a period of rest.

not at all, its probably a benefit.

I work out 5,6,7, times a week too. I need to sometimes take little breaks because i can tell my muscles are not recovering well.... i take protein, and glutamine - that helps. Sometimes Creatine too.

Two days off is OK, but don't do more than two days off. If you run 5 days a week, you're really better off taking one day off at a time though.

Definitely NOT,

The human body does not go through de-training effects until after the first 7 days off from exercise.

This is assuming you aren't binge drinking and eating McDonalds and pizza on those 2 days off.

Take the weekend off and you find that you will be able to exercise more intensely on Monday.

Enjoy your days off, you deserve it!

No, sometimes your body needs the break to "recharge" and repair itself. Just be sure to come back with vigor when you re-start.
