probably for a short time. when you don't eat anything, your body goes into a catabolic state which means any nutrients it gets will be converted to fat for later use.

You know we Muslims fast 12 hours every day for 29-30 days. After sunset we have plenty of water and a lot of fruit juice (Sugars). If you try this for the first time you will feel drosiness due to lack of sugars in the brain ( hypoglycemia) beside the normal feeling of hunger.
Make sure you drink plenty of pure filtered water and you will be fine.

My family and I fast for one day every year than afterwards usaually go for pizza. Although this is not for weight loss reasons but, for religious reasons. If you need medication or have another health reason, this is only for healthy people whom do so for their own desire.
No, not eating for one day will not perminatly harm you... much. You will lose some muscle, fat and water weight. Any weight you lose will not be perminate. To lose weight perminatly and safetly it's better to cut your calorie intake back by 250-500 calories and exercise(strength training and cardio). I personally think if you're going to create a huge calorie deficite it's better to do it more through exercise and not calorie reduction
How often do you plan to this? If you fast for just one day there is no danger. You might feel tired and get a headache. Don't do it to loose weight. It doesn't work.
