There are no 'magical' foods that will make you gain weight.

(Fats do NOT make you obese, and protein does NOT build muscle.)

It is true to say that 'you are what you eat', but only partly.

Your body is SHAPED and TYPED by what you do. Physical activities stimulate the building & shaping processes, and your diet provides the raw materials and fuels.

(Proteins are like the bricks used to build a house; you won't end up with a house just by buying a lot of bricks. You need to organise bricklayers and other trades, in order to turn the bricks into the kind of house you want.)

Different kinds of activity will produce different 'building' processes within your body. Some of these processes will improve your ability to endure painful 'oxygen debt', or your ability to store fuel in a burnable form (glycogen).

These processes won't help you to gain weight, and can even make you thinner. To 'bulk up' on muscle, you need to do HEAVY exercises that exhaust the muscles quickly. 'Explosive' activities, which rapidly cause fatigue, will have a similar effect.

Eating extra protein WHILE YOU REGULARLY WORK OUT IN THIS WAY, will supply material your body can use to build new muscle mass.

All exercises are 'SPECIFIC', so the muscle growth will be concentrated in the bodyparts that you are using to do the heavy exercises or exhausting activities. To maximise your weight gain, you should aim to train as many bodyparts as possible, rotating your sessions so that some parts can rest while you exhaust others.

Try reading up on bodybuilding for young people (books and magazines are best). 'Getting ripped' (losing surface fat) is only part of the effect that bodybuilders are after. They also need to build mass, and the exercise & nutritional techniques used by bodybuilders can also help you to increase your musculature and weight.

you're not underweight....just try and keep that weight and you'll be fine

your not underweight at all they are just all over wieght

more protein and less carb in your diet. proteins build muscles..

u didnt mention ur height..it is a must before any one can give u a advice.....

Eat more and start to lift weights. There is nothing you can really do becuase that is probably your body type just being skinny. The best thing is find out how many calories you burn in a day in eat at least 500 more then that. (sweets are bad, eat meat)

work your muscle groups three times a week. find the best routine. use a protien supplement. best supplements derive from beef, not vegetable, but watch out for mad cow in the UK. Expect gains ON THE ORDER of 1/4 pound per month, not more.

I can't really see to what extent you're underweight unless you state your height dear.

Anyway try playing racquet games like squah or tennis. When i was 15 I played squash for about 4 months and I went up from 43 to 48 kg. All muscle too :D

Eat more proteins builds up your muscles and also repairs the body from injuries. It's also there to help you grow so i don't see the problem or maybe it's because your not eating enough of it so your not growing which means your weak and will remain small and underweight if cause you don't have a balanced diet.

well depends on what you eat but seems you have a gift with a fast metabolism eat a lot of protein 126g a day 1g per 1lbbody weight and you need to train with weights this is the only way youll ever really add muscle there is no quick weight eat 500kcal more a day to gain weight
126 x 11 = 1386
1386 x 20% = 227
1386 + 227 = 1615 kcal is what you need to eat if you do nothing to maintain body weight so add 500kcal to add weight

Cut the 'fast food' crap out for a start dude, then ya can build yerself up gradually.....sensible eating in conjunction with exrcise regime is the key here!.......

I have the same problem. I am 47 and eat lots of good healthy food and sometimes a desert, but cannot seem to gain weight, but Excercise will help you build muscle and muscle weighs more than fat, so if you start exercizing slowly and get up some speed, join your local Jym and they have people there who can put you on a program in the weight room and you should gain a few pounds. I did and I feel good. I am still very thin, but exercise makes me feel alot better, mentally and physically. Wish you the best of luck. It worked for me. Feel Good-Look Great

Sounds fine, how tall are you? You sure that everyone else isn't overweight?

Hi,

It's all about what you eat.

Try putting more protein in your diet such as meat and eggs and do more exercise.

I don't recommend using weights.

I'm not willing to tell you how to do it as I don't know you but I would recommend joining kung Fu....

Same problem here - I've always been the skinny guy, and hated it. I'm not underweight, and you might not be either - we just want more beef on us. Sucks - all you can really do is eat lots of meat and cheese, lift weights. And don;'t give up.. You wont' ever be big, but you'll be some strong and toned. I am.

Eat more protein, meat, fish, beans etc or buy protein powder in a health shop. Protein is absorbed more readily when consumed just before or after excercising. Keep eating plenty and do weights to build up your upper body. If you have a good excercise regime you can sprinkle the protein on your cereal, on your toast whatever. You'll start to notice a difference after a month or so
