Do people realize they are what they eat?!


Question: Have you ever noticed that people who eat junk food all of the time instead of REAL food tend to wrinkle faster and age a lot more? I know a lady who eats a lot of sweet pastry. She has nothing but junk in refrigerator and she goes out to eat every day at fast food places. She is only 45 but she looks 65. I wonder if her diet has anything to do with it. She told me she only likes things like hamburgers and french fries and snack cakes. I asked if she tried to make her own food. She told me she only liked what she was eating every day. I invited her to come to dinner the next day. We made grilled salmon, asparagas, baked sweet potato with honey and cinnamon. Fresh fruit for desert. She wolfed it down.

She is now learning to cook! She looks 10 years younger since she stopped eating junk! I have noticed that people REALLY are what they eat. Have you noticed this too?

I think people are de-educated about food. Labeling has some responsibility for that. You often see breakfast cereals that are all sugar and salt proudly stating in big loud letters that they are 99% fat free. So people think they must be good for them and buy it. I am forever explaining to my son why the labels on food are misleading.

So if people can get totally misled in the supermarket by legal labeling, and if that labeling can be used to deliberately mislead people into thinking unhealthy food is actually good for people then what hope is there to explain which foods are actually good for you. People just say well how can we trust what any of them say.

I think diet management and education has fallen by the way and been replaced by catchy phrases about how many portions of fruit and veg you need, which people just switch off too. I would make cooking classes mandatory in schools. I know it should be taught in the home but that is just not happening.

Well I am off to eat a nice healthy chocolate coated ice cream, but its alright its low GI and has no artificial sweeteners so it must be good for me.

I've seen people who look really old that eat right. There are a lot of things that factor into the aging process. Too much sun, too much booze, too many drugs, and a poor diet as well. I don't have feathers yet, but I eat a lot of chicken.

i'm 17...i come from an italian family, so i sure do get my large helpings of my pasta and chicken alfredo...and i'm normal weight. plus, i like my snacks and burger king. i'm 6'1'' and 170, i know i am perfect weight......you still wanna call me a fatty cause i don't eat healthy all the time?
you need to chill out about what others eat, if you have kids you're going to be considered a child abuser for you thinking everything but fruits and vegetables are bad.

there are so many people who eat bad but still remain healthy looking. some just have that genetic obesity trend and can't keep weight off regardless of what they eat.

don't be such a tight ***. this is america. we do what we want, when we want. LIVE A LITTLE.

Your friend is lucky to have you as her friend. Many people just don't know or don't even care the harmful effect of fast food. Fast food alone for everyday consumption is bad for your health in long term. But, I think eating fast food once in several weeks is still fine.

One more thing, we must not forget to have daily exercise to burn the calories we have accumulated from eating and drinking.
