Protein Vs protein and calories.?!

Question: I'm trying to gain muscle although I would rather be lean and toned than bulky. I currently drink a protein-only shake after doing weights (about 20g protein) would I be better off using a shake that also contains extra calories?

Your post workout meal should contain both carbs and protein. This will ensure that enough insulin is secreted to help the bosy absorb the protein into the muscles for repair.

Reduce your carb intake at other times to compensate.

Do yourself a favor and go to a health food store. One that has been around for a long time. Not a drive by night. And ask them. They are the best at this kind of answers.

no dont add any extra calories keep to protein only but bulk it up to 25-30g per shake and keep your calorie intake below 250 calories per day based on 1700 calories per week this shud help you out. if you get sick of shakes try chicken and boiled rice or go to bodybuilding.com for loads of recipes. hope this helps ya.
