Are those 100 calorie snacks really worth the money?!

Question: Three weeks ago I decided to change my lifestyle, so I stopped eating sweets, drinking sodas, eating white breads, etc. I have seen those 100 calorie cupcakes, crackers and muffins but have often wondered if they're really all they're cracked up to be.

They are really good and you get quite a large snack for 100 calories, pretty satisfying. If you have the willpower, you can make your own by buying the regualr stuff _for example, a regular bag of doritos) and portioning them out into sandsuch baggies.... but since they aren't cooked the same way, you're not going to get as much for 100 cals as the calrie packs do.

yeah, they are yummy!

well, you should also check the fat.

REMEMBER:
SATURATED FAT AND TRANS-FAT are the worse

avoid intaking these a lot.

No, studies show people just eat other things in addition to those snack packs.

Each fresh fruits and vegetables instead!

No..GIMMICK

Well, it shows that you're really making an effort, and these are actually a good step towards a better lifestyle. Yes, they're really expensive compared to the regular products (but you can't buy these in bigger sizes anyway), but if you don't have the time or the willpower to ration your food portions yet, these snack packs will do it for you. In time you'll be able to easily portion your food for yourself and so in the long run, they do provide a tool to help you create a healthier diet.

Congratulations on improving your diet!

Personally I think the 100 calorie packs are a ripoff. I don't think they even taste good and the portions are tiny. I eat plenty of good-tasting, healthy food that fills me up way more than the 100 calorie packs. I think they send the message that people have to eat tiny portions to lose weight but that's not true. It's more about what you eat than how much you eat, as long as your portions don't make you overly full. They're not even that good for you.

My mother has been trying to lose weight and she buys them. The thing is she ends up eating several packs at a time since they're not filling, which defeats the purpose of having them when you can just eat something that tastes good instead. I can only guess that a lot of people do this.

The best way to eat healthier is to cook the food yourself. I look up recipes on websites like allrecipes.com and I modify the ingredients to healthier choices. I would change sugar to splenda (modifying the amount though, splenda is sweeter than sugar), white flour to wheat flour, regular salad dressing to fat free dressing, etc. That way you can know what goes into your body!
