Hey Im actually in the same situation as you right now! Im 18, 5'6" around 145ish and trying to lose 20 lbs by June. Currently I do cardio for 15-20 min, then the eliptical for at least 1 hour, every day. With my diet, I reduced my calorie intake by 500 calories a day, which should help me lose 1 pound a week. I dont nessesarily plan out my meals though, I just eat what I know is healthy and low in calories.

First off what you have set for exercising is great, and that alone without the diet change should help you out a lot. You might want to consider trading the weight training for running or elipitical, because that will help you shed the pounds, and then you can focus on toning. Just make sure it's something you can stick to. You have to be consistent.

Next, with your diet, I think the best approach is to not be too strict with what you can and cant eat. Just become knowledgable with the types of food that you like, and then you will know what foods are worth eating or not. To start out, it might help to record in a journal everything you eat each day, with the amount of calories. Then reduce your current calorie intake by about 500 calories a day. Like I said before, that will help you lose 1 pound a week, which is reasonable for your goal.

Good food options:
Breakfast:
-egg whites- they have 1/2 the calories of regular eggs- and they taste the same
-yogurt- yogurt helps boost energy-add a banana and granola
-apple- they help curb cravings so you arent as hungry throughout the day
-orange- if you like orange juice, an orange is a much healthier option
Lunch:
-salad without dressing- spinach, egg, almonds, olives, carrots
Snack:
-almonds, brazilian nuts, and cashews- not salted or roasted
-fruit
-hard boiled egg
-granola with nuts- better than an actual granola bar
Dinner:
-salmon
-light vegetable soup

Bad food options that may seem healthy:
-toast, bagel, muffin, tortillas, anything with bread- high in calories- if you eat a sandwich or burger, take off the bread, you wont miss it that much
-salad dressing- even low fat is not worth it- you are much better off with none at all
-pasta- high in calories! Dont ever eat it again it's not worth it
-mexican food- same as the pasta
-frozen yogurt- its just not worth it

If you must eat desert foods (I personally love chocolate) then keep in mind that the average candy bar has around 250 calories. If you can make room for it, then every once in a while is okay.

I hope this helps and good luck! To stay motivated read Self, Fitness, and other health magazines! They really help : )

It is more than possible. Roughly 4 months until July. 16 weeks. 1.5lb a week will get you there in no time.

1lb is 3500 calories. You need to intake at least 500 calories less than you are able to use A DAY.

Do it healthily. And good luck!!

you could lose that much by april

yeah, dont over work your self though. try cheerleading its a real work out even though some might not think so. you could probably lose more and even gain some muscle. try to vary your options on meals though you'll get sick of that if you have it every day foods that are good for you though are: blueberrys, nuts, spinach, yogurt, tomatoes and carrots
