You need to work all of the muscles in your stomach. I gave you a link with this nice 8 minute abs workout video. I tried it last night, I'm sore as hell! If that isn't intense enough for you, up each workout from 45 minutes to 1 minute, or a minute and a half. Also, make sure you are eating enough protein to allow muscle to grow. If you aren't, buying a protein shake is a good idea.

Also, situps are bad for your back. It's all about the crunches.

You should try alternating situps with other abdomen exercises in order to work all of your abs. Sit-ups only work a couple of the muscle groups, and if you want a six-pack you'll have to work all of the groups. Try situps lying on your side, as well as lying on your back and lifting your legs up vertically, then lowering them back down until they are just inches above the ground again.

When it comes to working out your abdomen and core of your body (or any other part), it's not quantity, but rather quality that matters. You could do 100's of sit-ups or crunches every night for years and not see the results you'd like. What I suggest doing is looking up exercises that specifically target your abdominals that use weights or go beyond standard sit-ups.

Here's a few examples:

>Sicilian Sit-ups: Lay on your back with knees bent, as in a normal crunch, but hold a dumbbell (start with 15lbs and increase) with both hands. When you get to the peak of your crunch, raise the dumbbell straight up and back down. Finish the sit-up. It's important to do all of these movements slowly. Do 3 sets x 15 reps

>V Sit-ups: Lay on your back completely flat. Raise both your arms and legs up at the same time so that your body forms a V. Be sure to keep your knees straight. Then, lower yourself back into the start position. Do 3 sets x 15 reps.

>Bridge: Lay on your stomach with your body flat. Then, raise yourself up with your forearms and feet touching the ground. The rest of your body should be straight and resemble a bridge. Hold this position for 30 seconds (1 minute - 3 minutes as you increase).

I just wanted to say that the answerer above who posted the link to the youtube 8 min ab video - awesome!!

An abs workout in retro style! The music was so cheezy but hilarious!

Its inspired me to give it a go!!
