No because after u lift weights u emideately go into rebuilding stage where ur muscles rebuild the torn fibres. It NEEDS FOOD AND CALORIES if u do cardio right after that u will burn even more calories from the muscles. do cardio before like someone said it also gts blood flowing

Actually running or "cardio" is best done before weight lifting to get the blood flowing and to give you energy!

Doesn't sound logical. Maybe you misunderstood your dad.

muscle weighs more than fat so lifting weight wold make you gain a little weight

as for jogging i think that it would make you lose a little weight

It depends on what your goal is. If you're trying to lose weight don't bother much with weights until you get a good cardio program going. The cardio will burn fat however the larger your muscles are the more calories you'll burn. I would recommend exercising before lifting because you'll get your blood flowing and muscles warm and stretched.

this is true, depending on a number of factors. if you dont have that much fat doing something anaerobic after lifting helps burn more energy and builds muscles in turn increasing your weight. if you do have a significant amount of fat, that really is the best thing you can do because lifting used up your energy and running or something like that forces your body to find other sources of energy and will find it in your fat cells which will reduce fat and therefore make you lose weight.

It doesn't have any gain benefit, but it helps clean out your cardiovascular system.

When you weight train your muscles produce waste which is deposited into the blood stream. After you're done weight lifting, doing cardio exercises helps flush these waste byproducts out of your system.
