Answers: And what BMI is is considered anorexia, if you know?

Thank you!

it actually depends on the person, you cant really name a spefific amount. For calories, its to the point were your body goes into starvation mode. this could be 500 for one person and 1200 for the next. Your bmi really depends on how your built. two people could be 5'6 and 100 pounds and have a bmi of 16.1, however 1 probably looks pretty while the other one looks really scary because they forced themselves down to that weight. bmi and calories dont define anorexia, its how your body looks and reacts to them

zero calories

The BMI depends on you height .. you can look on google or something see your height and your weight as for the calories .. i wouldnt think of starvation in calories but more of the things your eating you can have a really low calorie intake and still eat lots of thinks that fill you up .. like fruits,protein, milk... all depends on your body.. dont starve your self im doing a diet too and i eat pretty well to keep me through the day.. go at your pace to lose weight if that wat ur lookin for and still manage to be healthy.

i read on some other answer 800? so thats my guess but idk that seems really low

BMI Categories:

* Underweight = <18.5
* Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
* Overweight = 25-29.9
* Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

Anything under 18.5 is consider unhealthy or anorexia.

I think less than 500 calories is starving yourself and a BMI of 14 is DEFINITELY anorexic and it might be higher.

Well i think that any under your daily intake would be starving your body of needed fuel. So..
For sedentary people: Weight x 14 = estimated cal/day

For moderately active people: Weight x 17 = estimated cal/day

For active people: Weight x 20 = estimated cal/day

And a BMI of 18.5 and below is under weight, a BMI of 17.5 and under is considered anorexic

It depends on how tall you are, how old you are, and how active you are. I would say anything below 1000 would be unhealthy, but a more active person would need way more than that. A BMI of 18.5 or less is considered underweight, but BMI is considered an unreliable scale by many. This website has some formulas to help determine how many calories your body needs: http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/...

Dr. Menglea (sp?) of the Nazi concentration camps did ghoulish experiments where he gave one group of people a 500 calorie diet, another group a 600 calorie diet, etc. The goal was to see how many calories, bare minimum, was needed to keep people alive. I want to say it was like 720, but I'm sure you could look it up.

Having said that, I'm sure that the notion of "starving yourself" kicks in before 720. I'm sure the figure of 800 that someone else threw out would certainly qualify as starving one's self.

Recommended daily caloric intake really depends on your age, gender, height and weight as well as activity level, but if you're feeling hungry all the time then chances are you are starving yourself.

It is considered anorexia when you weigh less than 85% of your ideal body weight, but anorexia is a psychiatric illness in which a person believes they are fat and try to lose weight despite being thin. They have an appetite but may limit their calories and exercise excessively. Unexplained weight loss would be a reason for concern because there are diseases like cancer or tuberculosis which can cause this.

900 or less

Anything below 1000 calories if you use up more than 1500 a day.

If you just rest, and you only consume 600 calories, you be starving yourself.
