Why is it that lately always hungry, losing weight, yet have decreased workouts?!

Question: I usually eat 1200-1400 calories a day and burn around 1500 calories a week at the gym. Lately I stopped going to the gym so I can get a school routine in line first and I've been crazy hungry lately eating about 1500 calories a day. In two weeks I've dropped 7 pounds.

There are two changes in my life, one is a ton of stress from a personal life issue and the other is I started up with school now for 2 weeks.

Can stress alone cause you to lose weight and be more hungry?

Also I'm genuinely hungry not "false hungry". I eat when my stomach growls. I've tried consuming only 1400 calories and ignoring my stomach but I get weak, feel ill, or get dizzy.

haha no chance or pregnancy

Am I OK?

Oh, please, do not listen to her. You do not go into "starvation mode" on 1200-1400 calories a day.

It is probably just stress, and you might also be losing muscle mass. I know you want to get your school schedule in line and that's good, but the exercise will help with stress and it'll help you concentrate better and it'll make you feel better overall, so you can handle the stress and manage hunger easier. You should find some time for it in your school schedule.

It sounds like your body is taking the opportunity to get out of starvation mode, which is what you had it in by exercising while only eating 1200-1400 calories a day. You need to start back up with your exercise and eat NO LESS THAN 1700 calories a day. Your body tends to store more when it gets less because it doesn't know when it's going to get more. Eat more balanced meals!!!!!!

Let me put this in a perspective for you: If you were a complete vegetable, burning absolutely no energy outside of normal bodily function, you burn ~900 calories a day. So, if you ingest 1200-1400 calories a day, then you are leaving yourself ~300-500 calories a day to exercise, think, and overall function like a normal human being. Think on that for a minute.

You have come to the wrong place for help with this issue. You need to see a doctor, and have a good check-up.

It sounds like you keep to a fairly good routine. You didn't go into your food choices, but it sounds like you understand the way to make good food choices and controlling portion sizes.

Eating more & cutting back on exercise usually results in a weight gain. There are too many things that could be going wrong with your system to take a chance with answers from the internet.

Many people feel stress is normal and it will get better on its own. Stress is normal, but the way it affects each persons body can vary. With one it might shut them down and cause all kinds of health problems. With someone else, they go on with no physical effects. You didn't say if you have any medical problems, but this would be a good time to get a check-up.

Visit a doctor with a written list of what has been happening in your life. Give the doctor a run down of your families medical history. Be honest and disclose all the information that may be have a bearing on this situation.

Just keep in mind, your health is not the thing to take a chance with, so do the smart thing and find out what is going on. Everyone should know how their body reacts to situations, and how to maintain a healthy outlook along with a good physical body.
