I want to lose 80lbs in 6 months any suggestions?!

Question: 80 lbs in 6 months is same as
80 lbs in 24 weeks
i.e. 3.33 lbs per week

This is a VERY realistic target and within the recommended speed for weight loss.

Thus there is no reason to do anything drastic at all as some other have or can suggest.

To do:

FOOD
======
Take your current life and subtract / consume 500 calories less per day (that can be as simple as stopping soda drinks or not eating meat every day, taking veggies instead of fries, etc). I would need to know more about your habits to suggest better.

ACTIVITY
=========
Additionally, excercise 3 times per week (1 hour cardio). If you can do cardio every day minimum 45 minutes even better.

MENTAL
=========
make the following your moto or question to self: "do something every day to reach whatever goal". Put that in your mind. Ask yourself daily if you have done so and congratulate yourself if you have.

do this for 3 weeks and lose 40 lbs.

okay

day 1, 2 and 3: do not eat anything, only drink water and green tea.
day 4: have 1 tin of tomato soup and a sugarfree ice-lolly.
...do not eat anything but drink water and green tea for 3 days.
.....then have 1 tin of tomato soup and a sugarfree ice-lolly on day 4.
follow this diet for 3 weeks, it's hollywoods #1 detox diet.
when you have done this for 3 weeks and have lost 20-40 lbs, eat raw food for 1 week and then go back to your normal diet, but continue eating healthy. oh yeah and work out atleast 5 times a week, go for a 30 minute walk or run.

DRUGS!

Whatever you do, dont follow Girls Rule's advice. Doing it that way is INCREDIBLY dangerous.

stop eating ha ha

Why put a deadline on it? Becoming healthy is a lifelong process that you need to stay faithful to for the rest of your life. Making small changes in steps towards being HEALTHY rather than a silly number is the best thing that you can do for yourself. Start will small changes such as: If you are drinking 2 regular soda's a day, cut down to one or switch to diet. If you usually have ice cream for dessert, switch to fat free yogurt with chopped strawberries in it, if you are not exercising: start with walking for 20 minutes, if you have you sandwich on white bread, switch to wheat, have cereal or oatmeal for breakfast, an apple instead of chips. Little choices can add up in major ways. Dropping a large amount of weight in a short period of time is unhealthy for you and it is very likely that you will gain it back. Drastic weight loss is not fun either! It usually calls for cutting out major food groups, insane exercise routines and constantly being hungry! You want this to be a experience that you can feel good about and succeed. If you lose weight slowly and naturally by eating healthier (including more fruits, veggies, low-fat dairy, whole grains and lean meats/beans) and moving more, the chances of you losing weight, keeping it off and being more healthy is much greater! Good luck!

Check out Weight Watchers...That'll be the best way to go:)

And don't follow GIRL'S RULE's advice...It IS dangerous and extremely unhealthy.

Do you have a specific event that is coming up in 6 months that you want to loose the weight for?

I ask cos I think you should be aiming for steady safe weight loss that you can maintain in the long term. It's generally stated that 2lbs per week is a safe amount to lose which would not bring you all the way up to 80lbs lost. It may be possible to lose that much but it may not be what is best for your body.

I suggest that you set yourself mini goals along the way. I've found it really helps to break up the total amount into small bits so I don't feel so far away from goal. Eg 8lbs lost in 4 weeks. Then I reward myself with something when I get there. It's a great motivator to keep going once you've hit one goal.

I've been using http://www.extrapounds.com/ to keep track of everything. I have a little tracker that shows me how much weight I've got left to lose until I reach target and how many days I have left to do it in.

One of the most important things you'll need is motivation. Losing 80lbs is not a piece of cake and you'll need to make quite a lot of changes in your lifestyle to achieve it so be realistic and work out a plan that you think you can stick to and maybe even enjoy.

Good luck :)

I would suggest trying cleansing your body. I found cleansing to be the best weight loss program. I have ever tried. I lost 12 pounds in a week and 29 pounds in a month. I feel better since I removed the toxins from my body and shed some unwanted pounds. I did weight watchers, Jenny Craig and Medifast. I found that cleansing was the best since I saw results quickly and that kept me motivated to stick on the program.
