Am I over weight? How can I get healthier? (breaking food habits etc.)?!


Question: I am 10 years old, 5'3 and eigh around 95 lbs.
I eat sweets a lot! Chocolate escpecially, I really need to cut back but I can't! Please help.

Try to cut back on the sweets not because you are in anyway over-weight but just because they are empty calories and you don't need them.
There are sugar free chocolates and if you don't go overboard you will not have any tummy troubles from eating them; they are not however a low calorie food.
Fresh fruit and whole gain breads will help you feel full longer. Forget the "all carbs are bad" idea, just lay off white bread/rolls, white rice and non-whole grain pasta. One thing that will help you lose weight is SNACKS! Yes, a piece of fruit or a (low sugar) yogurt or (low sugar) granola type bar mid morning and afternoon will help you not munch on chips and stuff. Don't skip breakfast.
Increasing your water consumption would be good. Go for lean meats and remember that according to the dietitians a "serving" of meat is 4 ounces... about the side of a normal deck of playing cards. So watch your portions and fill up on fruits and vegetables.

i'm 16, around the same weight, AND YOU'RE TALLER THAN ME! believe me when i say, you're fine! quit worrying =]

You are not over weight. At your age and your height your weight is normal where it is at. Just be careful what you eat. You may hear this alot but eating sweets will be the death of you (not literally). Stay away from junk foods and eat healthy. That is all you need at your age.
