Vitamins for clear skin...IM CONFUSED!!?!

Question: I have been reading up on different vitamins to take to clear up acne and get overall healthy skin. I have acne & have had it for years (now 22). And yes I wash it, drink lots of water and eat as healthy as possible (I dont need suggestions on how to prevent it...just on vitamins please!). Well I found so many...some say zinc is the best, some say vitamin E is the best, some say its vitamin B!! I cant keep track of so many! So should I just write all this down and go buy each of them seperately? Is it ok to take several different vitamins daily? I know I should ask my doctor about this but I dont have insurance & cant afford it. So any suggestions on which vitamin is best to clear skin & keep it healthy will be appreciated! I was thinking about a multi vitamin but I dont think it will have enough of each vitamin to help my bad skin. I would like to get vitamins that focus mostly on healthy skin. Thanks everybody!

Vitamin A in higher doses has the same effect as Accutaine. My naturopath said it is safe to take 30,000 IUs for 3 months. If you want to take this longterm I would stick to a lower amount like 10,000 IUs a day. If you want to confirm this amount, I'd ask someone in a health food store to recommend a safe dosage, or else look it up in a book on vitamins. Too much vitamin A (just like Accutaine) can damage your liver, as well as your bones (see the link below), so this is important. I actually just looked it up on another site and it says that there is no RDA (which I think means recommended daily allowance) for vitamin A. That link is below as well.

I also swear by EFAs (essential fatty acids). They are good for every part of you but especially your skin. I would recommend a blend of flax, borage and primrose oils. Other oils are good too like fish oils, but for acne, you will want to boost the primrose levels. It's expensive but worth it. Buy good quality too, not something like Udos, which uses fillers. Health from the Sun makes an excellent quality blend of the three and if you buy them in liquid form, you can tell if they're fresh. Bodybuilding.com has good prices on these.

I believe it's important to take other vitamins and minerals as well, but the above I find the most helpful. I personally feel that you don't get enough from a multivitamin and I take most vitamins separately. And since acne is a symptom of poor digestion, you could take things like digestive enzymes, a really good quality probiotic, and then lots of fiber like freshly ground flax and fennel seeds and psyllium husk fiber to move your food through your system faster. Crunchy, raw vegetables will also help you enormously by providing insoluble fiber to keep food moving, and drinking lots of water, preferably with a little freshly squeezed lemon, will hydrate you and help to alkalize your blood. I know you said you already eat healthily but just in case I thought I'd mention these.

Best wishes!

Did you try going on birth control pills??? I've had the same trouble as you for years as well and the doctor said I should go on birth control pills...maybe you should go see a doctor and see if that's right for you as well???

well my situation is as much as you do.
but since i started eating Vitamins last summer, then my skin is apperantly getting much better than before.
I ate Vitamins A & E. And also, our body need Vitamins C for every day need.
So I just take Vitamins A & E at the beginning (everyday), drink a lot of water and a cup of Lemon water would be enough; then when I saw the it was getting better, I ate them two to three days once.
Of course, it depends on the IU.
For Vitamins A I recall it was 25,000 IU per each, and it shouldn't be taking too much for sure, because it could also damage your body if you overdose it.

Well bless to you!
