Crazy Weight Loss Fad:?!

Question: So here's the deal. The human body is capable of achieving so many fetes on its own, and yet so many of us have not realised its potential. But what about this:

A dramatic, controversial weightloss solution that works. Imagine losing ten, fifteen, even twenty pounds in just five days. It is possible. But it comes at a cost, and it is not for timid of heart.

What I am suggesting is this:

A sustained fever, completely controlled and monitored for a pre-specified period of time, in accordance with your needs. In other words, you go to see the doctor; he evaluates you and discloses the health risks and you set up a date and a schedule based upon the amount of weight you feel you'll need to lose. Then, come that day, you will check in to a special clinic where spend the remainder of no more than one week at a time for the duration of the controlled procedure.

The premise is simple, and the market is open. I think it could catch on. Though, certainly not in the U.S. at first.

Hospital costs for one day alone run about $5,000 in the U.S. If one is to be closely monitored like you are saying it would be upwards of $10,000 to $15,000 a day. At a week of this you are looking at anywhere from $35,000 to $100,000 which would be financially infeasable considering it is an optional procedure an no insurance company would pay for it.
A lap band procedure in the US will cost anywhere from $12,000 to $30,000 and some insurance companies may pay for it. If one goes across the border to Mexico it runs about $7500. The lap band procedure would be more effective and probably safer than the one you are recommending.
So I would say it most certainly would not catch on.

That is too weird and not worth it. :)

Explain what exactly you think this fever is going to do.

your health is the only thing you have that worth jack, once its gone you have nothing,if you think this kind of weight loss is worth fooling around with the balance of your health then perhaps you should take a walk around a hospital and see sick people ask them if they think they have reached their ideal weight. insane or stupid someone will make money out of people like you, that's the deal

I think you've answered the question in the question itself...crazy :)

Losing that amount of weight in such a short amount of time is idiotic, no doctor or clinic would ever volunteer for something that stupid.

Why not just eat properly? losing weight isn't meant to be easy that's why the world is getting fatter
