I am addicted to fast food... any help?!

Question: So lately, this year I have been addicted to fast food.
I am 16 and just got my license about a year ago and ever since, I eat mostly fast food.

My parents work a lot, so their never around to cook me a home-meal, and im not blaming my fast food addiction on them..
I mean everyday I get breakfast at mcdonalds and then sometime either lunch or dinner there too...

I dk, what should I do?
I use to be healthy and I can feel it sometimes, I dk, but I need to do something in order to end this, before it gets even worse!

There is only one real answer to this dilema, and you may not like it; discipline.

That being said, there are many tactics that may help. I recommend concentrating on how crappy the fast food makes you feel for a while. Use this feeling to build up the discipline to resist it all for 7 days. During this time, eat lots of fruit and veggies. Cook for yourself - simple stuff, but healthy. Rememeber it only has to be for 7 days so don't cheat yourself, just do it.

At the end of the 7 day trial, analyze how you feel. I bet you feel so good, or more acurately, you be able to see how crappy you felt before, that you may be able to swear off all fast food for quite awhile.

Don't expect to be perfect right off the bat tho, remember to stay positive, persistent and analitical. This is the formula to change anythign about yourself. Good Luck

dont carry any money with you so you cant go out and buy fast food. haha, thats what i do to keep from eating it

If you really are concerned about getting healthier and breaking this addiction (and it sounds like you are, I'm not in denial) then I would first go online and read about the health issues that come w/ eating fast food every day. Even if you have a very fast metabolism, all of the fat and grease is not good for you. Next, don't try and go down the path of "cold turkey." You'll drive yourself insane. I would devise a schedule, a healthy schedule. For example, get a calender and pick a specific date (say next Friday.) Each time you go to a fast food place, write it down immedietley. You don't need to write down WHAT you ate, necessarily, just that you went and got something to eat. Next, you should try and slowly limit yourself on how many times a week you can go to a fast food place. (This does not include Subway or a healthier restaurant where one has the option of ordering food, getting it, and then leaving.) For example, you say that, approxiametley, you get 2-3 meals from a local McDonald's. 2x7(the amount of days in the week) equals 14. So take 14 and subtract (possibly) 5. This leaves you with 9. So, for each week, you can only go to a restaurant 9 times. This might be too much too fast. If this is the case, do not hesitate to bump the number up just a tad.
Max=9
Min=12
So, say that a week goes by, and you have gone 9 times or so. This is the time to celebrate and reward yourself. Go see a movie you really want to see, hang out with friends, play a boardgame. Do something special that doesn't occur everyday. If you do not meet your goal, don't be discouraged. Tell yourself, "I could have done better, but I made a very good attempt." Make sure you don't splurge and think, "I didn't make my goal, I never will, what's the point?,etc." This will only sink you down!
Also, I would advise that you get your parents in on this. Have them support you with this, even if they can't be there 24/7. I really hope this helps! Good Luck!
