Overwieght? Oh god..?!

Question: At first, I didn't believe the doctors last year when they said I was a tad overweight, they put it off as my body preparing for a growth spurt. I did grow, but I also gained weight, when I was 5'2" and 140 pounds The stretch marks on my thighs started appearing, thats when I got scared, I would exercise, loose 3 pounds, but gain it back with ONE taco. Soon I quit and put it off as "Its normal, kids get them when they grow". Then the marks went down to my calves, Then two small ones on my stomach, now, they're on the underside of the upper part of my arm, summer be damned I cant wear a short sleeved shirt. I'm still 5' 2" and maintaining 140 pounds on average. I've stopped drinking the soda that I loved, even tried to starve myself with one meal a day for a week. What should I do? It cant be normal can it? Is it? Am I doomed to never go to a public pool again, or wear shorts?

Sounds like you're built a lot like my older sister, She's 5'1" and she had a hard time keeping weight off when she was younger. Starving yourself will only slow down your metabolism, try eating small meals 5-6 times a day, and take a look at the diabetic diet. There are different ones, depending on the amount of calories your body needs a day. . one of the links I've provided for you will show you how to calculate how many calories you need a day to maintain your current weight, then put in your height, age, and goal weight to see how many calories you need a day to get there. Its a healthy diet, regardless if you're a diabetic or not. You get to eat normal foods, in correct serving amounts, and you don't have to starve. As for stretch marks, try cocoa butter or vitamin E oil once or twice a day, and they'll eventually fade out. Check out some of the links I've provided as a source, they'll help you out with controlling your weight. Also, with the diabetic diet.. they include a list of "Free" foods, that you can have as much or as little as you would like, without impacting your weight or the diet.

Stretch marks are completely normal and can go away or fade if you apply cocoa butter to them a couple times a day for a while.
Don't starve yourself, that'll make you gain weight.

Two issues. In order of importance - 1). it is STUPID to say that fat people cannot go to public pool or wear shorts. Yes they can. And you can too whether you're fat or not. Don't be stupid. 2). yes, 140 lbs is a lot. Again, don't be stupid - eating one meal a day does nothing but slows your metabolism down (then your body will latch on to any little piece of calories it can find) and screws your body over. Talk to the doctor, go to weight watchers, etc.

No. All you need to do is invest in a little bit of exercise and change your diet. Start going jogging once a week or do crunches while you watch T.V.. Also start eating a more balanced diet with a lot of vegetables and protein.

hmm i remember those days when i wayed around there i was 5'3 and i weighed 146 more than u and i went on a healthy diet. I didnt skip any meals thats soo not good for you. You know if you skip meals, thats how you could also gain weight...if you eat 3 times a day and get the good amount of food then your good. plus if you exercise daily then you might be in a good shape getting some nice muscles too!
