I'm overweight and so self-conscious about exercising?!


Question: I just feel too ugly to exist but if I don't get myself out to the park to walk and exercise it'll just keep getting worse. how do I get over this?

you should never feel self conscious about bettering yourself, no one pays attention really! plus maybe you can motivate some others to get involved. a friend could ease your mind a little plus they'll keep you motivated because you know you wont be in it alone. you could exercise together whenever possible. if its really horrible to start out maybe you could try doing some exercises in private like in your bedroom or something if you live with someone, so no one can see.

just stay focused and push all the negativity out the window because its soo worth it in the long run!

you can always buy a stationary bike or treadmill or just do push-ups, etc at home if you feel too self-conscious.

You have to convince yourself that people in the street don't really care about you, or about your life. They might look and think "Oh, she's overweight!" but it won't last for more than 10 secs after which they'll just continue minding their own buisness.

Act as if you own the world, and be free.

if they judge let them.. atleast your doing something about it!!

or just try running in your backyard..

if you have a trampoline jump like hell kid .. its one of the best ways to lose weight..=)

get a skipping rope and jump a few hundred times..

but remember if your not fit its best no to run flat out for 30 minutes.. build yourself up from a 5 or 10 min jog.. and gradually increase the time.. worked for me =) i feel so much better about myself =)

hey just need to relax. im certain ur not as ugly as you think you are lol. maybe you just need some help, some support to get through this. there are loads and loads of helpful stuff on the net you can look up. ask a friend to go with you?go walking early in the morning!think about your health and how getting yourself in shape or better yet just healthy will benefit you in the long run or just pray!i am a full-figured woman also,but i do go walking and i call them life walks,because this is a chance for me to re-connect with the world and think about my life,it also reduces alot of stress,by the end of my life walk,i feel more alive(if that makes sense to you)so don't give up or in-take your time.

Just remember that other peoples opinions cant hurt you, and i doubt many would voice them openly anyway. Also, keep in mind that you'll be making yourself better looking by working hard, and use your nervousness when exercising near others to make yourself go harder. I wish you lived by me, we could maybe motivate each other.....lol. I don't like walking by myself either. I always feel like everyone is looking at me, I have social anxiety. I have to say I did lose 30 lbs. on Weight Watchers online (points system), didn't go to meetings, and loved it. I thought it was very easy to use & not too expensive. I went from 208 down to 178 (I'm 5'8) so I can still stand to lose some, but I'm not so disgusted with myself now (size 12).

u can exercise at home like i do, u dont need to walk in d park or have some exercise at gym or in d clubhouse..
u can always take a walk in going nearby like market or mall, nstead of using a ride, try to walk..
n try to cut down ur food intake...

i found a local site and bought a used treadmill for 50 bucks. it folds away to store easily. i turn on the tv and walk in my own home so no one sees me and i dont have an excuse not to exercise anymore. im the same way too. i would make up excuses not to go out to a park or such to walk. my excuses ranged from traffic, being my myself, not having music to listen to, it was too cold or too hot, etc. you have to find some way to exercise or diet. if you cant atleast maintain your current weight your only going to get worse. believe me! i know! i use to be an itty bitty thing. now im over 200 pounds and miserable. but i keep thinking everyday when im walking and trying to eat a little better that im doing this for myself, my family, and my future kids. somethings got to motovate you. you just have to find out what that is.
