Why can't I loose weight...?!

Question: I joined the local biggest loosers and weight 325#, cut all junk out of cold turkey, only healthy food. I do not snack in between the 3 meals. Breakfast=small bowl oatmeal, glass milk. lunch=salad, fruit. or wrap chicken. dinner=small plate is used...1 meat portion, veggies, one spoon potatoe or rice. Nothing after dinner...I do not drink any pop, I drink only water about 1 plus liter a day. I exercise 5 times a week, 15 miniutes cardio tredmill, 2 x 12 reps upper body lifting, another 15 minutes fat burner tredmill. Last week only lost .75#. My pants are loose...no weight loss. I feel like a failure. I am going to be a big fat cow forever!!!!!------DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS!!!!

Now, as I understand it, weight is like a bank balance, in that it goes up and down depending on what goes in and what is taken out. Contrary to all the diet ads on TV, there is one and ONLY one way to lose weight, consistently burn more calories than you consume, so your caloric balance (weight) decreases over time. The things is, it sounds like you are doing things right, smaller portions and more exercise. Be sure to consult with a doctor or nutritionist to advise you on portions and proper balance so you get the right amounts of protein, minerals and such. You might consider a food preparation service, like Weightwatchers or Jenny Craig to do the food for you, but that can be expensive compared to doing your own cooking. The problem is one of your weight distribution on your body. You may very well be gaining muscle and losing fat. Muscle per unit volume weighs more than fat so the shape of your body changes, with muscles becoming firmer as density goes up and inches are lost as fat is consumed from your waist, hips and thighs, but your actual weight on a scale may not change much for quite some time. You are not drinking enough water if your numbers are accurate. The average person sweats out 2 pints a day without doing anything. Add exercise and you can easily sweat out double or triple the amount. One of the first symptoms of dehydration is a headache, especially during or shortly after a period of exercise activity. You are NOT a failure. From your description, you are simply in the process of rearranging the distribution of muscle and fat. You HAVE made progress, your clothes fit differently, in a GOOD way. Keep it up. If you are consistently consuming fewer calories then you burn, you WILL drop pounds over time. The key is consistency, every day and TIME for the process to work. This is a race which is best won by slow and steady effort, there is NO "quick fix" for weight loss. Not to worry. It seems you are on the right track and making some progress in shape changing for the better even though the pounds are not going away just yet. Give it some time, a chance for things to work. Patience is a virtue. Just so you know, a few years ago, I let my weight creep up to about 280# and then one day, as I was having my work suits tailored yet again to make them fit properly, I heard a small kid say, "Hey mommy, look at the fat man! What's he doing?" At the time, the tailor was marking the points where he was going to let out things out and I suppose the kid thought it strange that a man was using something like chalk to draw lines on my suit. Since there was no one else around except for the kid, mommy, me and the tailor, I kind of assumed the kid meant ME. I did much as you are doing, cut back on portions, stopped most of the junk food, started doing more exercise. I did not lose a single pound for 6 months and I know exactly how discouraging that can BE. However, my waist dropped several inches and once again I was back getting my suits adjusted yet again. I was on a first name basis with the man who tailored my clothes, I was there so often. Then, the pounds slowly started dropping off, one by one. It took me 18 months to go from 280# down to my present stable195# which my doctor tells me is still a few pounds over where he thinks I should be. Based on the size of my frame, he thinks about 180-185 would be ideal. So, you can do this. It takes some will power and determination and above all, patience. By the way, last year, just as I went below 200#, I was laid off. Which meant only ONE thing to me... No more daily suit and tie! I donated all of my working clothes to charity once I figured out I could literally retire early and not have to slave for a paycheck every week. Now, I work by choice and at my leisure and the load of stress I no longer carry has helped me keep the weight OFF.

maybe ur still eating to much or no excersize

take a vitamin b complex. the b12 speeds up metabolism and you should snack in between meals to speed it up as well.

Maybe you are gaining muscel from all the exercise you do. Muscel weighs more than fat.

how can you only eat that? i would be starved...
snack between meals, you will still lose weight, and won't get frustrated in the long run...give it time, and if you own a scale, throw it outise the window...lol that is the worst thing to have...
you will weigh more because muscles weigh more than fat...so even if the numbers don't go down, you are probably toning your body, good luck, you can do it!

I think you are doing pretty good, but you just have to keep on doing it, weight loss takes time. Also jumping on a small or big TRAMPOLINE is VERY good for the body, and will get your heart pumping fast! Also, eat a big breakfast! First eat a little bit of meat, then eat the fruits, veggies, eggs, and etc. That way the meat is first, because meat takes a long time to digest, and with all the other foods on top of it, you won't get hungry before you next meal. Then eat a medium lunch, and a small dinner, because your body makes the food you eat at night body fat, beacause you are going to sleep. PLease try the trampoline, and GOOD LUCK. HOPE IT HELPED!

Don't give up still telling yourself that you are fat ,you will not be fat forever or lets it is sickness, continue with your exicise and diet what ever suits you,may be you have not found your way of how to become slim, try something alse

Add a few light snacks in there between the meals... like 1/2 cup of maderine oranges or a small apple). If you are feeling hungry your body goes into starvation mode and doesn't lose weight.

Also... if you are gaining muscle it weighs more than fat. You might not see # results, but you already have seen the difference in your clothes feeling loose. That is what prefer I go by, not the scale as much.

Congrats on making the decision to get healthy!!

I think maybe your not eating enough, i know that sounds stupid but if your only eating 3 meanls your body is going into stravtion mode and its storing the fat in your body thats why your not losing weight, you have to eat 5-6 small meals a day your main meals and 2-3 heathly snacks. Make sure each meal is not more them 500 calories and each snack is not more than 300 calories and make sure its all healthy. It also sounds like you have to do more cardio, you should be doing at least 30 mins of cardio most days and only do your weight training everyother day. Good luck

Maybe you're not eating enough, I've read that when the body doesn't get enough food it thinks the food is scarce and will hold on to anything, making it impossible to lose weight.

Eat smaller portions more often, at least six times a day.
