As Marathon Mom said, apples will give you a boost of energy.... But, that's only due to their high glycemic value.... Unfotunately, once the sugar value in that apple is used up, you'll be back to feeling lethargic, again.

I don't know what kind of diet you follow, but I'm assuming that it's probably not the healthiest.... You're probably going to have to revamp your diet.

Try to cut back on your simple carbohydrates ( "sugary" foods), reduce your fat intake, increase your consumption of complex carbohydrates (whole grain products, etc.), and increase your protein consumption (this will help stabilize your insulin level so that you don't have those energy "highs and lows").

Try to keep your calorie consumption close to:
40% proteins, 40%carbohydrates, and 20% fats....

I know it's not easy to do, but the rewards you'll get will be well worth the trouble!...

Also, you might want to take a B-complex multi-vitamin on a daily basis, drink some "green tea" a few times a day, or take green tea in pill form. The green tea drink is better because it's more easily absorbed - albeit, more expensive. But, you never want to comsume the green tea at a late hour because you'll have a difficult time going to sleep....

And, finally, this is very important!... Reduce your daily STRESS levels!...

High stress levels will cause your body to produce higher levels of endorphins and adrenaline! Hence, creating a "fight or flight response" condition. Endorphins and adrenaline are cool, but when your body goes from a spike in edorphins and adrenaline levels to a normalizing of its endorphins and adrenaline levels, you tend to feel "drained".... Remember that time when you almost got into a car accident and eveything seemed to be moving in slow-motion and your heart was going about a million miles per second? Remember how aware of everything around you you were? I bet at that moment you were wide awake, right? That was kind of cool, huh?... But, do you also remember how tired (drained of all energy), you felt about twenty minutes after that?... You had a moment of your endorphins and adrenaline levels spiking and then dropping.

Can you imagine doing this all day long? That's what happens when your stress levels are high.... Hope this helps!... :)

Apples are a great eye opener...
Eat an apple in the morning and it will wake you up!

eat every 2-3 hours, small meals with 60% protein rest carbs and some fat

if you dont do that you will have crashes induced by insulin

washing your face every few hours helps too..it keeps you alert.

I quit drinking Coke and anything alike as I got to the point I was drinking like a bottle of it, 2.5L a day. I was unable to evaluate my actual exhaustion level. Sleep. Not a lot. But on a regular basis. 5-6 hours at least. Fixed sleeping intervals. Fixed waking up hours.

And eat not much, but so that it compensates the lack of sleep. I can't tell what and how much - I have a chaotic eating habbit, having no fixed eating hours. I don't eat fast-food or other junk food. Yogurt & milk - yes. A beer - now and then, mostly no drop of alcohol for weeks in a row. Fruits - as much as you can, but don't mix too many on a given occasion... :P

Let me know how things turn out. >:D<
