How come I only feel my abs when I lie down?!

Question: If I lie down on the floor, I can feel the form of 6 pack abs on my stomach but when i stand up my tummy is all flat and rubbery. I work out to 3 kinds of crunches a day but I don't even feel sore anymore. When i just started it was pretty hard to do. Am I still gaining muscles?

You can do all the crunches in the world, but if you have over about a 15% body fat, your abs will never see the light of day.

I'm guessing that there' s a 90% chance that you have a poor diet. I see it all the time- people doing tons of sit-ups, and even doing excessive amounts of cardio, and not making any progress. If you have a bad diet, everything you do will be wasted... but at least you will have strong abs under that fat layer :)

I'm going to recommend something for you to try. Cut bread out of your diet completely. Cut soda out of your diet completely (except for diet). Cut as much sugar out of your diet as possible, and replace it with splenda when you can (coffee, etc). Just these few simple things will make those abs show through in no time.

Your overall goal should be to decrease the amount of "simple" carbs you eat, and increase the amount of "complex" carbs you eat (vegetables, whole grains, oatmeal, bananas).

Also, Make sure that you're not eating "bad" fats (saturated and trans fats), and that you're eating a good amount of the "good" fats (anything other than saturated and trans). Some sources of good fats are peanuts, peanut butter, and fish.

Protein should also be a focus of your diet, along with the complex carbs and good fats. Eat lots of chicken, and any other type of lean meat.

One of the things that really gets to me is that people have absolutely no clue what they're eating and what effects it has on their bodies. Sugar increases your blood glucose levels. When your blood glucose levels are high, the excess gets stored as fat. I can't put it any simpler. Saturated and Trans fats are harder to burn throught normal daily activity as opposed to the other types of fats.

Knowledge is power.

Do what we all do best.. try doing a set of aerobic work outs everyday and in time you will feel the rumble. Its just a feeling so chill out

I used to have the fattest stomach. Here's a good site I found that really helped. It gave me great workouts and diet tips and showed me what I was doing wrong before...
