What's good for breakfast before a 4.5 mile marathon?!

Question: Are bananas and a chocolate malt drink good?

Answers: Are bananas and a chocolate malt drink good?

I would avoid the malt in the morning. Eat something light about 2 hrs before you run. I suggest oatmeal and maybe a banana. Them just before you run eat a protein bar. The most important thing is what you have for dinner the night before. Eat lots of carbs since they take about 14 hrs for you body to turn into energy. Pasta is always a good choice. Also Drink as much water as possible the leading up to the race and not at ton the morning of. A gallon a day is what you should go for this will help your body metabolize oxygen more efficiently as well as help keep your electrolytes built up. Good Luck.

You should probably try eating a complete but not heavy meal. For example..... Try half a bowl of malt cereal w/ milk then two bananas then you'll be ready to go jog and run all you want! :) Always remember GO, GROW and GLOW!

I would suggest oatmeal for energy.

I would have a good meal the night before, get good rest, and have maybe an orange juice about half an hour before running. If you eat anything heavy before running you will have pain during the run. Carry a bottle of water with you and take small amounts during the run. Eat after the run.

big ol' bowl of poridge

Carbohydrates are the best thing to eat, these can be found in foods such as Bread, Porridge.
They are a slow release energy source so unlike sugars that give you a quick high and an even quicker low, will keep you sustained for a longer period of time.
Eat Wholemeal Pasta the night before too...

Good Luck xx
