The Pool at my gym leaves a smell on me (not chlorine)?!

Question: My Gym's swimming pool leaves me smelling gross for hours after I go there. There's a ton of old people that use it and I suspect that its high in organic compounds, which leave a nasty residue on people who use it. I can't think of any more accurate way to describe it other than you get left smelling like an elderly person.

If I use the pool before I go on the treadmills, I can't bear the smell. I shower off after use with the gym's barri-air tangerine scented shower-gel. It takes at least 2 showers to get it off...

What could this be? What should I do (other than not using the pool) to get the smell off of me when I swim.

The gym says that they test the pool regularly for water quality and that they've been certified by the county pool inspector for water quality. Is there any resources out there for people who think their public water facilities are not up to snuff.

It may not be urine or fecal matter. Many pools now use bromine instead of chlorine for health reasons. Bromine has a very distinct odor. Address the issue with the pool manager or director.

ew... ew... ew... ew. well if you've already talked to them, there's nothing else to do besides not go in the pool, maybe switch gyms.

oh. oh. actually! if it's a chain, like 24 hour or LA fitness, you should call headquarters, you could probably find the number on the site and complain, people at headquarters take things seriously and if they find out that their pool stinks at one of their gyms, be assured, they will take care of it.

Ewwy Ewwy

I Dont know

Complain they shoud tsake it seriously

Sorry typing errors

:( Tired

when people pee in the pool, it reacts to the chlorine and leaves a bleach kind of smell on your skin. Nasty but unless everyone stops peeing in the pool, it will always be there. Sorry

SWITCH POOLS...FAST
