Do you believe it an obese person fault for being over weight?!

Question: i want your real opinions any why

Answers: i want your real opinions any why

Most of the time yes. I think genetics can work against you as can your upbringing which directly impacts your eating habits. In the end though, we make the decision of what we put in our mouth and how much physical activity we engage in.

well i think that obese person should be able to answer for themself. so, is it?

i was obese all my life from 13 till 41 it was all my fault ,because it was me that stuffed my face with all the wrong foods ,sweets crisps, ect i joined slimming world and lost 12 stone 2 pound in 14 months, with sensible eating and lots of exercise,so if i can do it so can anyone

i think it really depends on the person and their personal situation. obesity is usually the result of an eating disorder. how can we hold that against someone. do we fault girls who are anorexic . . .its basically the same situation only in the opposite direction.

Yes, absolutely. I struggle with my weight, but the difference between myself and a fat person is I STRUGGLE. I don't give up and plop my butt down on a couch and eat cheetos.

Some people have it easy, but most of us don't. Instead of giving up or whining about it people should be glad that it's difficult for them to stay in shape. It makes us work harder which makes us healthier. There are plenty of skinny people who are dying on the inside, and don't even know it.

If they ate healthy and exercised, they wouldn't be obese. I've worked with overweight people to help them lose weight. It's always the same story. "I barely eat, I walk all the time. I don't know why I'm fat."

Then I spend a few days with them. So... you ate a whole box of mac and cheese for lunch AND you mixed in a cup of mayo with the cheese. (They tell me it makes it creamier) Then the only walking you did was down to the mail box. Wow, there's some great cardio. They bring it on themselves, and until they can admit that and make a real committment to change and better health, they'll just keep killing themselves.

Sometimes, but not always.

Sometimes a person is obese due to a health condition - metabolism disorder, etc.

If a person is obese due to diet (i.e., eating too much) they may well have history that has 'caused' them to get this way, BUT... that they continue to use family history or whatever to continue this pattern well into adulthood? That I find hard to excuse. As an adult we all can make choices. Food may be their addiction, but they can get help. Reach out for the support that is out there in the community, family and friends.

It depends the reason the person is overweight in my opinion.
If one is overweight due to heath problems, thyroid, diabetes etc then the answer would be no. Genetics play a part but this is a 50/50 one that could go yes or no. If a person is overweight because they over eat & under exercise then absolutely yes.

Maybe and maybe not.

Sometimes they live in circumstances that encourage obesity and it takes a change in lifestyle.

Sometimes it is a metabolic problem.

Before any conclusions are drawn a complete physical needs to be given.

Well I would have to say it depends on why they are obese. Do they have a hereditary disorder? Or are they obese just because they make bad choices?

no it is not always that persons fault, Sometimes you can be prescribed psychiatric medications, or any medications that can cause a HUGE increase in your appetite, thats why there are some class action lawsuits against some pharmaceutical companies because the patients taking the medications gained so much weight that they developed type 2 diabetes.

Well I may make some people mad with this answer, but i believe yes. There are drugs, food, genes, etc... that make people fat, but there are drugs, food, surgery, exercise that can make anyone smaller......point blank...they just have to try every day no matter how hard it is. I am overweight, but at least I can say I try everyday, and it may be really slow, but I am doing it. ( just being honest)
