Why do bodybuilders eat lots of potatoes?!

I have a friend who is a professional bodybuilder. He is very passionate about his healthy diet and his future in bodybuilding. I asked him about his diet plan (I'm working out too) and he told me he eats potatoes and eggs almost every day for breakfast and apparently, so do many other bodybuilders. Now I'm confused! When I wanted to eat potatoes, people told me not to because they are bad for you! If he can eat his damn potatoes and look good....I want some too! I just don't understand because I've heard potatoes are bad for you even if you DON'T load them up with butter and sour cream. So what's the reason for all these bodybuilders eating potatoes and still keeping their NON FAT bodies?

Potatoes are NOT bad for you. That's the same logic that says "FAT IS EVIL AND TO BE AVOIDED!"

Potatoes have a ton of starch. Starch is source of energy, along with fat, sugar, and whatnot. Energy of course, equals calories. If you consume more calories then you burn, you will gain weight.

So yes, if you eat a ton of potatoes and don't exercise, you will gain a lot, pretty much like anything else. That said, potatoes are a much better source of energy than, say, Doritos or something.

potatoes and eggs give you protein wich gives you muscles!

Beans make them fart when they lift weights.

Thats why Mexican body builders smell bad.
