How long can yogurt sit at room temperature?!

Question: I brought a yogurt to work at 8:00 this morning (out of the fridge at home). I forgot about it and it has been on my desk all day, it is now 4:30 and I am considering eating it. Is it safe?

yes it is, it's a resonable amount of time, and it's not like it was 80 degrees in your office.
the warmer temp would speed up the growth of the yogurt cultures, but not spoil it.
it gets tarter if not refrigerated, but won't kill you.
and if the seal/lid wasn't broken, even better (if it didn't come in contact with the air)
nowadays, the food has so many preservatives that won't spoil if left out one day for couple of hours (i mean if you forget to put the butter back in the fridge after breakfast and head to work for the day, and do that every day for a week in summertime, then, yes, it's safer to discard it).

17 hours...

honestly... it cant be THAT bad. haha i ate sushi the other day and it had been sitting outside for about an hour- im still alive (much to the dismay of my friends lol)
