1st of all, congratulations on wanting to take care of YOU at such a young age and all for the right reasons - your health!! Usually people your age want to look like the popular girls either at school or in Hollywood so congrats.

If I had any advice for you is first realize that it is NOT going to happen over night. Slow and steady. There will be set backs cuz frankly LIFE and stress can get in the way.

So start slow. Go for a walk tomorrow for about 15 minutes and then take the next day off and then go for walk again for 15 minutes the next day after your rest day. Rest is surprisingly really important so be sure to get a lot of rest.

By doing small steps - you are getting your MIND into a habit so that your body/mind will feel weird if you don't get out there and walk.

Then every other week "up your exercise". Either by extending the time or changing your intensity ie:walk (5 min), fast walk (2min), walk (5 min).

Please do not use the scale as an indicator. Pull out an old pair of jeans and put them on every week to set your goals that way.

With all of this- this should get you started. Good luck and let us know how you do.

stop eating sugar and try going on one of those no carb diets...also try to join your school track team...it got me in shape :]

Mix cardio and weight training (muscle burns more calories). For each set, do a different number of reps at a different weight. Follow your workout with a soy-whey protein shake (preferably with soymilk). Increase water, nut, fruit, veggie, fiber, and lean meat intake. Stress is fattening so avoid it at all costs. Aim for 8-10 hours of sleep a night.

okay first of all ignore the first answerer! do not cut out any food group entirely! it is not healthy!! eat everything in moderation!
as for excersise, try to aim for 30 minutes of cardio (jogging, swimming, biking) about 3 times a week.. and then one full hour of cardio once a week.
once you've started to lose a bit of your weight, throw in some toning excersises, like pushups, situps, etc. however i wouldn't use those. look for some different ones since they aren't very fun.. or you could buy a toning dvd.. they're cheap, and they work! and let's face it, they're funner than crunches!

and eat healthy snacks like apples with peanut butter, or a handful of almonds!!

You don't want to start out hard because then you'll be sore. Start out by doing streches and a few push-ups and crunches each day .. if you do it every day then in no time, you'll have awesome abs! once you exercise for a while, start running around the block and soon a mile or two. But with exercise, cut back on your eating.

Best time to exercise is in the morning. Dieting is important so I would definitely try to cut back on simple carbs and sugar. Also the best time to work out is in the morning, a 20 minute walk is a great idea, you only need something to get your metabolism going. Also for breakfast, try having a protein shake with fruits instead of eggs and your off to a healthy start. I highly recommend that you take some wholefood supplement along with your exercise regimen to give your body all the nutrients its going to need to maintain healthy levels. The best supplement out there is this evolutionary product called VIBE, its and all natural supplement with absolutely no artificial ingredients. You ABSOLUTELY need to give this product a try! Not only will you be able to see the difference, but you Will FEEL IT too.

okay im not gonna say mch because everyone else has said alot.
i was or am just like you. im 5'4 but last year this time i got all the way 2 191 pounds. i was huge. i dont know wat made me change but ii realized my reason for being fat was that i spent all my time in the house. so i just started going outside walking around. then gradually i began jogging. jogging is hard when ur big because it hurts the joints. but i still did it because i had a goal. amazingly i stopped being in the house because it was the summer and by the time school started i was 175 pounds. and i finally got a job so i really wasnt home to eat junk food. junk food doesnt do any good if you wanna lose wieght. i dont eat much healthier but i watch what i eat. because i dont eat red meat like that. no do i drink milk. im lactose. but now in feb 08 im now 164 pounds.
doing just crunches isnt gonna get you anywhere trust me. i brought a ta bo dvd. the boot camp. and i used that as my starting excersize training. it helps its hard but it gives you the push you will need.
you need cardio for fat to burn off. and the min is 30 mins 5x a week.
and it takes dedication
if you need any advice or help email me k
i hope you reach ur goal
