Heavy weights equal more muscle while less weight and more reps equal tone.

u will gain muscle if u push ur self to ur absolute limit=) good luck

For muscle toning, you want low weight, high reps. For building you want high weight and limit reps to 8-10, once you can do 10 with erelative ease, raise the weight until 8 is a slight struggle.

With a healthy diet working out at the gym can provide great results, to obtain more muscular size and strength you would want to do heavy weights with low reps, this increases the size of the muscle and gives you a bigger bulkier look. Now when you lift lighter weights and lift them for high reps you are introducing more of a cardio and endurance training workout. This will increase strength, endurance, and muscle size, although the size of the muscle will be long and lean rather than big and bulky. Since the high reps speeds up the heart rate you will achieve a more toned or ripped look.

A lot of reps at a light-moderate load help achieve muscle endurance. Testosterone production stimulates muscle growth and high volume stimulates testosterone production. So, to grow muscle you need a workout of high volume. To achieve this you can do 5 sets of 12 repetitions with the load at 70-75% 1RM. To vary your workout, you can occasionally do a workout consisting of 10 sets of 10 repetitions at about 60%1RM
