This is a pretty safe exercise for youngsters, as there is no pressure/weight placed on joints.

It works the arms, shoulders, and upper back. If you lift your legs at the front as you lift up it also works the abs a bit.

Chin ups work your biceps. It is a great excersize for someone your age. Any excersizes like pushups, situps, and chin ups where you use your body weight are great for someone your age.

Chin-ups build great strength in the grip, arms, back, shoulders and core. Its probably one of the toughest exercise for most people but when you master it you know how strong you can be. Balance it out with push-ups, sit-ups, bw squats and you got yourself one hell of a program.
