do not listen to any of the idiots that answered before me. protein is a natural substance thats in most of the foods that u eat. protein is made of amino acids they are what ur body uses to build/repair muscle. without amino acids, you will not get the results that u want. i suggest at least 1g per lb u weigh. most of ur protein should come form whole foods and maybe 1-3 shakes a day. protein wil not cause heart attacks, not make u die young, no side effects watsoever, its not like roids or anything its just a natural substance that ur body needs. the good thing with whey protein shakes is that they are digested very quickly which is good to give ur muscles amino acids right after a workout. make sure to take a protein shake after u workout(most important time of all). i currently weigh 180lbs and get 250-300g a day.

if you have too much protein it just turns into fat. Your body only needs so much protein a day. Plus those protenin suplements are nasty who knows what they put in them. The books that i have read say not to take protein supplements and just get normal proten through meat and peanutbutter/peanuts It is much healthier.

To sum up waht i have said do not take the protein supplements

Most trainers say that you need about 1 gram per pound of your body wieght a day but I think thats just for people who compete. I take around 40-50 grams a day, and work out every other day. Now that I take protein I am finally taking results. It is possible to still get big without taking protein but eating enought protein just isnt sufficent for people like myself. Protein really does make a difference just keep it up. If your trying to bulk up dont forget your diet to. You need to eat alot of calorie, not through burgers or fries. Im talking about foods that are good for you. Keep taking that protein, eat well and train hard and believe me you will pack on the muscles. Stick to it, good luck.

no no, with weight lifting you can't expect results straight away, and yeh that stuff does work, Im 17 and im just naturally hench, but yer you do notice a difference after taking that stuff, my mate takes it, hes been weight lifting for a year now, he was skinny as f**k but now hes got quite big muscles.
Side effects in the long run include: heart attacks, due to the protein clogging up your veins and arteries.
Why do you think body builders always die early?!

I have used whey protein, and it definitely works. Don't take it after workouts. I take two table spoons mixed with milk and carnation instant breakfast drink mix every morning. I also take a table spoon at night before bed mixed with milk.. In the last 2 months, I went from 135pounds to 148. I am a believer. Make sure you get the non hydrolyzed whey which u can find at health food stores. Good luck.

'copper', thats some of the biggest B***S*** ive ever heard.

Protein turns into fat? Ur an idiot.

It is next to impossible to get the amount of protein you need as a bodybuilder from food alone. Hence the need for supplements. Protein supplements also contain amino acids.

Pro's recommend minimum 1g/pound of bodyweight everyday. (food + supplements).

Instead of taking 60g after workout, i would suggest keep going, but instead take 30g immediately after workout and 30g again with another meal later in the day. If you weigh 190lbs u can safely take one or two more shakes. But yes they will help as opposed to not taking them at all.
I'm only 130lbs but taking 90g of protein a day.

I would also HIGHLY reccommend this read for anyone looking to pack on muscle and become lean: http://kaka21.burnthefat.hop.clickbank.n...
