Someone please explain this cardio crap to me?!

Question: I have lost 31 pounds since January 16th. I want to lose 20 more pounds for sure. All I'm doing is cutting my meals in half. I'm not cutting any cheese burgers in half or anything, but you know... I've been eating healthier and I basicially eat anything that I want, just not a lot of it!! I've also been doing 1,000+ crunchs a day along with other moderate exercises. I've been walking at a medium-fast pace for 30-45 minutes, 4 times a week. We have an old air bike and I've also been using that as much as possible lately, but I wasn't using it during the process of losing 30 pounds.

NOW!! With all that said--- I've been reading around on the Internet and on Y!Answers, and according to a lot of you, crunches are a waste of time.. and apparently my other little moderate exercises are as well. I have no problem at all doing the amount of crunches that I do, but all you slim Jim's out there say the only way to losing weight is diet, lot's of water and CARDIO!!! CARDIO! CARDIO! CARDIO!

Well they are wrong about that. Your crunch routine is awesome. I do that myself. You know what? You have already lost 31 pounds. Why can't you lose more by staying on this routine. Well anyway, drinking lots of water and doing cardio isn't the only way to fitness. What I would recommend is switching running with some light walking and replacing 1 soda per day with water. Do that and there you go. Hope that helps.

I was a dancer for a while and took a whole bunch of classes we did a crap load of cardio and yea it work it tones you up however depending where you want to loose the weight from depends on the types of cardio you should be doing. Something that works for me might not work for someone like you. See where you wanne drop the weight and then look online to see how you can do that, and crunches are good for you it just doesnt make you drop 30 pounds in two days it helps to keep everything tones it works more then most people think

Without the "cardio crap", you run the risk that your base rate metabolism will remain the same as it was when you were "fatter", since your 'resting rate' of calorie-consumption will remain the same. That will result in you having to exercise more & more (and eat less & less) to stay the same weight! Not your goal, I'm sure!

Good luck...

You're doing great! Just keep it up and forget about all this cr*p you've been hearing. Not for you.

I think the next twenty pounds will be much harder to lose, but not impossible! I suggest getting some junker bike that you can ride around town. You can get high quality cardio on the bike. I lost about 30 pounds doing that. (I'm 5'7'' and went from 140 to 110).

If you pedal as quickly as you can, it is the best. So don't let your legs feel like they're lifting weights or pushing too hard (except when you're going up hill). Start with 30 minutes and then do more and more.

You should think of investing in a heart rate monitor. I have the POLAR F4 and it is a cute watch too. That way, you can watch and make sure you heart is doing the bulk of the work and not your legs. If your legs do too much, you will add muscle and weight ... and probably not fit into your jeans and stuff.

Good luck

if ya want to lose weight you must do cardio at 65% of your heart rate for a 21 yr old female you must be at about 130 beats per minute everything else is a waste of time go use a machine with a heart rate monitor built in or go buy a heart rate monitor it works and ya won t have to spend as much time if ya stay in the zone
