Do manual treadmills suck?!

Question: http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/p_10151_10104...

Would this be good for someone who weighs 261 pounds and is 16 years old? I want to use this until the weather gets better and I can get outside!

Ive cut out soda and starting today, im trying to cut down on overeating. Thats my main problem is overeating! I always eat too much and I always eat junk food as snacks!

Im thinking about getting that treadmill in 2 weeks. If I walk an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening, would this make me lose weight?

Manual treadmills have a certain advantages and disadvantages as well. While walking or running on a manual one, you apply the same force as you do while walking or running on road. In electronic TM, it works on its own. In case you fall, or in case of any mis-hap you can be hurt very badly. You can control the manual TM yourself.

Manual TMs are hard to handle are not self-adjustable. I like one the suggestions to buy an old one.

I would recommend manual treadmill and not the electronic one which is not useful in case of power failure.

I would not get a manual treadmill. They only go as fast as you do and are hard to get going in most cases. IF you have an electric one they go as fast as you need them to to maintain a comfortable speed and do no slow down when you do. You can get these cheap in the $200 range. Check out used treadmills there is always someone who had good intentions but now use there treadmill as a clothing rack and are selling to get it out of the house.

to me manual treadmills suck. but i never had the coordination for one. what i would do is go get one of those 38 inch trampolines and run on that. i do it and it gets the heart rate up there pretty good after about 10 min. everyone has there different ways in doing things.

Manuals are just that -- manual--- it is like a bike, you have to push it to go. The better ones are only about 75.00 more (electric) and can push you better than you doing it. Mine I bought at Walmart for 175.00 and it goes up to 10 mph (I am only up to 3.5 mph) but am already losing weight. An hour in the morning and an hour in the early evening would work wonderful!!!! Absolutely wonderful, dear. I only walk on mine in the mornings (you burn fat all day that way), and it speeds up your metabolism. Oh, by the way, don't do drugs haha. Really though there are so many risks. My sis was about to get one prescribed by a doctor until she researched and found that that one can cause a stroke. You are only 16, exercise is all you need. Swimming in the summer is a sure bet, too. Immediate results.
