Need help with weight loss issues, working hard and not seeing results?!

Question: I have been using an elliptical machine now for about 6 weeks. I use it 5 days a week, for 30 minutes, buring about 250 - 270 calories a day, I have been eating better, and drinking water. Calorie intake is about 1500 a day. I have only lost 4 lbs... what am I doing wrong? what can I do to speed up this process. I know I did not gain weight over night, and I wont lose it overnight, but I was hoping for some better results. Can anyone give me some advise as to why nothing is changing?

read on yahoo yesterday under health--that sometimes you may be your own worse enemy when it comes to exercise--it said that sometimes 2 short ten-fife teen minutes of intense workout and varying routines is better than consist ant exercising. What most people do wrong is they maintain a consistent workout and do not vary the length and routine--then your body uses the calories you do eat to turn into fat or maintain weight because you are sending your body message that it is burning too much fuel--also your calorie intake for that amount of exercise is too low--also measure inches not just pounds--if your inches are going down, but weight being maintained you are building muscles but still losing fat--go to places like ivilliage.com--they can also give you good tips about food\exercise and doing it the right way and achieving results that last.

You need to change up your routine and up your reps/times.If you do the same workout over and over, your body gets use to it and accomidates, thus causing you to not lose any weight and maintain where it is...sucks I know..

You could also very well be on that infamous plateau of weight loss....where no matter what you do,it's hard as anything to lose that last 5 lbs.

Honey bear,

Don't give up, you have already made great progress. I don't know what your exact routine is but try and eat 5-6 mini meals a day to speed up your metabolism.

Don't get me wrong, you still have to be burning more calories than you are taking but by spreading out your meals every few hours your body is constantly spending energy to break them down.

Eat a lot of greens and eliminate sugar from your diet. If you eat fruit, only eat one piece a day, preferably in the am. Try and do your exercise on an empty stomach

Good luck.

Do some weight training. Muscle boosts your metabolism. Also, do intervals on the elliptical-- fast for 2 min. then average speed for 2 min.

Good luck. Don't get discouraged. Rely more on how your clothes fit than on your weight.

250 calories on the elliptical is not enough. Try burning more calories and you will lose more weight. Are you sure you are only eating 1500 a day. If so then cut back to 1400, and see what happens. How long have you been on this diet? One week? Then that's a good result One month then thats a bad thing. I don't think you are working out hard enough to lose muscle.
