You need to find other things to occupy your mind and time. If you aren't actively engaged in a task then you are more likely to think about food and end up eating too much. Make a plan every day, if you finish your daily tasks and/or chores, have things planned to do that are extra just to occupy yourself. I know that when I'm at work, I get so into my job and things I want to accomplish, I forget about eating and that I'm hungry, kinda bad, but for someone who wants to lose weight, it may help.

Go to your family doc to see if you are healthy enough to start and excersize program. I control my hunger sometimes with Hoodia Gordonni, it has to be authentic from Africa though.....

eat lots and lots of vegetables. My friends sister lost about 60 pounds by eating practically nothing but lettuce. It's not the best way to go about it, but it works.

Youll die if you dont, do you want to see the next 10 years? If yes then visit the doctor you might have binge eating disorder and yes it is an actual problem which is just starting to be reconised and is most common in obese people.

You might have an addiction to eating I'm not j/k, this is actually an addiction).

You could gain help from seeing a therapist or just finding a support group in your area.

Simple carbrohydrates keep you feeling like you are still hungry. Get rid of(ok, let's be realistic--cut way back on) white flour, white sugar, white rice and you will seriously not have the feeling of wanting to eat. From a physical standpoint, anyway. And read Dr. Oz's book, YOU on a diet. I'm reading it, and it's involved, but it EXPLAINS alot of why we eat etc.

You should go see a nutritionist. They will help you build a program that will work for you. Also, make it so you have really good snacks like carrots, celery, salad and fresh fruit to eat when you want to eat. You can eat tons of those foods and nut really hurt yourself.

Jay, Mari has it right. At your weight, you will need to consult your doctor who will advise you on what is healthy for you to try, because to be honest, any wrong advice can cost you big time as your heart may not be up for some of the suggestions some of us may give.

I personally wouldn't recommend a diet of lettuce, counselling is good to help find the source of problems too but that's what your GP (Doctor) is for. He can advise you on the best resources that are available to you.

You could also consider going on the biggest loser. Remember nothing is impossible, and because you posted this question on this site, it shows you are willing to do something about it so you are already 65% of the way.

I like the Atkins diet because I can still eat a lot and lose weight. Sounds stupid, but I eat too much because I "like" to eat. Tell me I can't eat, and I want to eat more.

I simplify everything. I would not do all the carb counting called for by the book. I simply eliminated all starches and nearly all sugars. No bread. No pasta. No rice, potatoes, or chips. No soft drinks, fruit juice, and limited fruits. I allowed myself all the veggies I wanted, even though they had carbs. I didn't consider white flour and processed sugar to be "evil" the way Atkins did. I just considered them to be "empty carbs" like potatoes.

My results were not nearly as dramatic as those who strictly followed the diet, but I did lose 45 pounds over time.
