Gym and food....?!

Question: I am having problems with going to the gym after work because I keep getting the 'sugar shakes' half way through my work out. Can you recommend something to eat that will keep me going for 1-2 hours after work, instead of eating a meal and then going?

A banana is the best thing. Pro cyclists eat bananas when on racing tours. It won't upset you you in any way. Dates and other dried fruit would be o.k., but second best.

If you had something oat based at lunch time, that might help you as well. Rice would be nearly as good if you prefer.

Most gyms sell glucose tablets (lucazade), which are good if you need a quick fix whilst training or take some fruit juice along instead.

Avoid the energy drinks in the evening. They all contain caffeinne which will mess up your sleep pattern.

You shouldn't have a main meal straight before exercise. If you do, you will not be able to train properly and you may suffer from cramps amongst other things.

i chew sugar free gum and drink good ol water

A banana is a good source of energy. When I was going to the gym, I was advised to eat pasta.

fresh or dried fruit as a snack will give you some sugar and some carbs for energy

A sports bar

Red Bull, It will give you Wings!

I'm not sure what "sugar shakes" are but if you need fuel while exercising just take peanut butter sandwich and eat it during the middle of your workout.

Tracker bar or snickers
I Regularly use snickers for that extra boost :)
