Sugar free anything is worse than sugar drinks. The sugar drinks are terrible for you.

What happens is your body reacts to diet drinks the same way it does sugar. The Hypothalamus senses sweetness and sends TRH hormone to the pituitary causing it to send hormones to the pancreas to release insulin. Insulin acts like a key to unlock the insulin receptors located in the membranes of each cell. When the cell door is open to let glucose in and there is no glucose, the receptors get fatigued. Then the body thinks it still needs more insulin, so the pancreas gets the message to send more insulin. Still no sugar there, so the cells get very resistant to the insulin. Now the body has to release glucagon to lower the blood sugar level that is in a state of chaos, and the adrenal glands get involved because the body thinks it is in a state of "flight or fight." So adrenaline and cortisol is released and the adrenals get exhausted. The body uses up it's supply of pregnenalone producing the excess cortisol and the steroid hormones are not made in the liver.

You feel the high from the adrenaline and the cortisol, but your body's organs are exhausted and cannot perform other necessary functions to stay normal.

All this starts a cascade of events that leads to eventual premature death. The cascade is hypoglycemia to diabetes type II, and then eventually kidney failure.

The so called "energy" drinks are garbage and very damaging to the body. Dietetic or Sugared, all the same garbage.

Also, these drinks, like coffee, tea, fruit juices, etc. all dehydrate you and thereby depleting you of water you need for necessary functions in the body.

good luck to you

they increase your heart rate with puesdo (fake) ephedra- you know, that stuff that made peoples' hearts f'n EXPLODE in their chest.....it's only a matter of time. it's a stiumlant- and it's not good to do anything TOO much- i mean, one everynow and then is ok....

Its loaded with chemicals. It isn't naturey.

There are many theories on weather or not sugar is better for you than the substitute (aspartame, sucralose) and personally I think that an excess of either refined sugar or a fake sugar is bad for you. Obviously a lot of sugar lowers your immune system and is also empty calories so it's easy to gain weight. But some people believe that fake sugar leads to cancer and other worse things than a lowered immune system and a few extra pounds. Like I said, in my book, they're both bad but it's a personal preference. As far as energy drinks, even the one without sugar and still bad for you because of all the caffeine. My advice to you is to just stay away from energy drinks altogether. If you're looking for energy try fruit juice, as it's much better for you and still gives you energy through fructose.

Not sure to be honest, I don't have them because yeah it's true, they are loaded in Sugar, I'd stick to water if as was you, quenches your first just as good and at least you know what your drinking, it's also cheaper :)

there has been a study done that shows anything with aspartyme has cancer causing properties. Its a chemical, also withdrawal from it can include headaches, etc. Why do you need a energy drink, its all synthetic and its all temporary. it doesnt mean sugar free, its sugar substitute thats still sweet and like sugar, and make your blood sugar still go up still, and its all bad for you in the end because you will crash just after the high. If you want take a meal replacement bar, or drink at least you get all the vitamins back in your body, keep your blood sugars under control and burn fat aswell, instead of robbing them. The only sugar consumed should be fruits and veg drink. I found if I drink fresh juice with veggies after a workout, I feel much more alive and you feel better the next day too. dont try the cheap stuff, stick to good old nutrition and your body will thankyou for it.
