How fast on average do you go on a crosstrainer? If you are really pusing it?!

Question: The speed thing says 15.4 - I'm not sure if its mph or kph

Answers: The speed thing says 15.4 - I'm not sure if its mph or kph

Well, since I'm in such good shape, 37 y/o, couch potato and 70 kg, I probably go about 2 mph.

I own one and use It alot. its not how fats you go that matters your have to go the disstance to do the good. So pick a steady pace and trie to go for around 30 minuets without stopping if you can do this 3-4 times a week or more you will get fit.

It's more likely to be 15kph. 15mph is faster than the max setting on even really expensive treadmills. The treadmills in my gym go up to 22kph which is 13.75mph.

On crosstrainer I tend to aim to keep the rpm up around 140 and do a hill cycle so the effort varies.

15.4 will be kph. If I really go for it I can get up to about the same speed working at level 13, but I have to be listening to a really fast tune on the iPod which seems to give me extra oomph!

I never look at the actual speed but I make sure I'm going fast :) I start off working steady to warm up, Then I increase the speed after about 5 mins! :)

more important than the speed at which you are going is to keep your heart rate at your 'target' for a set period of time.

over time it will take more speed to reach your target heart rate.

Im 38 (and nowwith a year of slacking off about 30lbs overweight) and I notice that when Im at my target heartrate of about 160 bpm, im doing about 60-65 rpm on a eliptical trainer

Its in miles..
But to make sure you could check the users manual and it should tell you..
