Well not exactly. For a person trying to gain muscle mass i would suggest you get 1-1.5 grams of protein for every pound THROUGHOUT THE DAY. Which means you don't have to get it all through your powder because lots of foods have a good source of protein including eggs, chicken, nuts, and milk.

What is important though is that you get about 30-60 grams of protein DIRECTLY AFTER YOUR WOKROUT! THis is what matters most because this is where you will gain the most muscle. Take the protein drink right after exercising becuase this is when your body is rebuilding and will need the protein to form new muscle mass. You could also take some in the morning and then get the rest of your daily protein through your daily meals.

1 gram of protein per pound of body weight is the ideal protein intake if you want to gain mass. check the label of optimum nutrition, if i'm not mistaken it has 32g of protein per serving. So if you're 150lbs, you should take 5 servings of optimum nutrition. But you should also take into consideration your diet, so if you take food rich in protein then you subtract that from your daily requirement of optimum nutrition.
