Will taking sugar out of my diet slow or make your metabolism faster?!

Question: or will it be the same? i just recently took sugar out of my diet. added sugar not natural sugar. i still have fruits and foods that naturally have sugar. if taking sugar out of my diet will help me lose weight faster then why is that? because im on a 1200 calories diet. and im still having 1200 calories a day with or without the sugar. so does not having sugar make a difference. will it actually make me lose weight faster?

Removing sugar from your diet won't affect your metabolism. Only changing the total amount of calories you consume will affect your metabolism - that is why dietitians recommend people don't decrease the amount of calories they consume too drastically or the body will go into 'starvation mode' and weight loss will be harder. It is a good idea to reduce the amount of refined sugar (sucrose) you consume - sugar is high in calories, low in nutrients and causes your blood sugar to rise - this results in insulin being released which causes fat to be stored in tissue. Some people may also be 'sugar sensitive' - for them sugar has an addictive quality and eating sugar will just make them crave more sugar.

The sugar alone will not improve your metabolism. It will just decrease calorie count and glucose levels. Though it will help you out to have less sugar.

You might want to get your thyroid checked to see how it is cause it does the metabolism thing.

The funny thing about sugar is any thing that is a carbohydrate will turn into sugar. Like potato's, rice and white bread. Good luck with your diet.
:-)

To speed up your metabolism you need to eat healthier and EXERCISE! Exercising is a great way to speed up your metabolism. But yeah, taking sugar (added sugars) out of your diet helps a lot...not just with your metabolism but with health in general- added sugar has a lot of bad chemicals in it anyway. Sounds to me like you're on the right track.

P.S:
Added sugars make you gain weight because they are simple carbs. They don't have any real sustenance, therefore do not add anything healthy to your body (such as complex carbs...like whole grains) do. Your body just takes them in as empty calories...which fat feeds off of, creating more fat. This is why you gain weight.
