I'm a compulsive eater so I understand exactly what your gong through, it's like an addiction to food, or as my mother would call it-greediness.
But what you need to look for are the things that trigger your eating, for instance, I eat when I'm bored, watching tv and studying or when I dont know what yo do with myself. So knowing my trigger, I sought out solutions for them e.g. once I am aware that I am going to study I get a big bottle of water(the one litre bottle) and i begin drinking it, i dont let the craving even begin-I drink- and I have on hand a bag of salted pretzels-they are zero calories and few fats near zero actually. So the salty pretzels make me want to drink more water. So infact I fight fire with fire, I have on hand my healthy drink ZERO CALORIES FATS OR ADDITIVES_*WATER*_ which has my skin oh sooo clean, and my salty health snack (which may be substituted by butterless popcorn or another zero calorie baked chip) and I never feel the craving because I control the trigger situation.

This way you control your cravings, and eventually you lessen the snack, and drink more water, until you only drink water and your body will crave water in the situation and not food. Its a relaly good trade off when you think of it. In other situations it works also for me, I carry my bottle of water in my bag and i take a sip when i know i am waiting on class to start or I'm watching Tv etc.

The crux of the matter is for you to Know what triggers your binging and curb it before it starts! Be master of your appetite or it will master you!

P.S. This isnt a diet, but all the food that you cut out from binging, replaced with water will,I assure you improve your health and drop some pounds.

Good Luck and God Bless You!

Buy some raw carrots and celery.
Allow yourself to eat normal meals until your comfortable. After that, you should only allow yourself to eat low cal, super healthy foods like I have mentioned.

I do think there's something much deeper going on with you. I hope that you can get to the bottom of things before your weight gets out of control. Maybe you are depressed or feel powerless. Join a group. Read a self-help book.

What has really helped me was reading books on nutrition. I have lost 35 pounds. Reading about nutrition has helped me gain a better perspective on eating healthy.

Suggested meal plan:

oatmeal & egg white omelet
salad & cottage cheese
lean chicken breast &baked potato
frozen yogurt

Good luck!!!

Oh my God, you sound just like me. I had to check to see if I didn't write this myself. I just tried the green tea pills too and nothing. I workout so it's not like I'm a couch potato or something. I have noticed that when I am busy and constantly doing something I don't think about food and If my hands are busy I don't. I would sure like to know too.

Hmm most of us seem to have that problem, we eat when emotional, bored, just because and its like a bad habit. Unfortunatly you need to practice self control, which I know is sooo hard. You should have healthy snacks on hand for when the urges do come and drink lots of water helping you feel full. Tell your family and friends that your trying to eat less, so when they see you snacking they can give you the "eye" and maybe help you resist. Good luck!

I'm a foody...living on a handful of vegetables is not an option. Try Atkins. There is no limit on the amount you eat, though you'll likely find that unnecessary food cravings drop right off within the first few weeks.

The problem is not your eating. Eating is the effect of a psycologcal problem. Unless you get to the root of the problem you will not be able to cure the effects of the problem, in this case over eating. You will not be able to just use will power to solve it.

Same with me. =) It seems like we all have the same problem. Lolz.

O.K.
Make a notebook that records EVERYTHING you eat, from the main course veggies to that spoonful of ice cream.
After a week, look at what you wrote. It helps, really. I HAD to do this for school. I know. Weird. But I DID help some.

Also buy smaller dishes. Smaller dishes = less food.
A large-large plate can fit 3 pieces of pizza.
A medium-medium plate can only hold 2. :)

Oh, and drink water and do ab excersizes at night, including crunches, sit-ups, and look online for any other good ones.

Best Of Luck To Ya!!!

As a certified Doctor I've seen many of these patients just like you. It seems You might have a binge eating disorder a binge eating disorder is a disease in which a person has difficulty controlling how much he or she eats at a time but dos not purge.
Patients who normally suffer from this often suffer from depression or may become overweight or obese. to train yourself to not it so much or eat healthy eat little amounts but you can separate those times eat something like activa yogurt or south beach lunch's or eat a sandwich with wheat bread instead of white get 1% milk instead of two get your familey to help you in some cases this can be very stressful and hard to do alone go to the gym with a friend work for somethin youll be working for your life.

some patients acuttaley get a trainer or a very healthy member in the familey to help out.

I wish you all the best!!

ha, I love food too, but you have two options my dear:

1) keep eating the way you are and exercise A LOT more. This is what I do. I eat over 2300 calories a day but I also work out quite a bit to make sure it doesn't stay as fat.

2) Cut down your calorie intake and exercise moderately at least 5x a week.

So, I chose option 1 because I tried to cut down on my food intake and I was grumpy and I felt yuck. Instead, I took a different approach, eat whatever I want, try to eat healthy stuff, and work it off. And I do, it can be done, but you have to be motivated and straight in the head. Most people choose option 2 because they lack the time to exercise as much as I do. But if you're a compulsive eater, just make sure you work it all off and enjoy life : )

My suggestion is not a cure all, but it is helpful....

When you are getting ready to eat compulsively, stop for a minute and ask yourself "What am I feeling right now?" Journal it for a few minutes too.

Often we eat because we feel lonely or stressed or angry or nervous, but it takes a couple of minutes to explore the 'why'.

It is going to be difficult for you, as you've made this a habit. You can get a good start by replacing the food you eat with other things.

You can choose lower calorie and more filling options (puffed wheat cereal or squares, rice crispie squares or rice cakes - Quaker makes caramel chocolate chip, they taste bad, but they're only 60 calories each). Look for low fat and foods that have nutritional value. Try nuts, they have good fats and protein which is slow burning (moderation though, 1 almond has 6 calories).

If you aren't hungry, you can try chewing a peice of gum, or brushing your teeth. You can also drink water to fill up your stomach, or tea.

If you can get your eating under control, your stomach will start to shrink to it's normal size. You are stretching it past capacity everytime you overeat, which just allows for more food you don't need. Once you've got to the point where it's a bit smaller, you will be more uncomfortable when you are over full, and that should help you to judge where to draw the line.

Also, if you're eating chips or something like that put a serving size in a bowl, that way you won't eat yourself to the bottom of the bag.

Always try to go for slow burning food, granola is calorie heavy, but it's slow burning and good for you. You can take granola, non-fat vanilla yogurt (or whatever kind) and sliced strawberries or blueberries and make a yogurt parfait. try to keep your serving size to a 1/2 cup, that's all you need, and it will last for a while.

Oatmeal is also a good one, and you can cook it with water instead of milk and use splenda brown sugar to sweeten it.

You have to try to find ways of satisfying your appetite without depriving yourself. I hope this helps.
