I have a daughter, she's 12 years of age, 5''3 tall, and is 144lbs. !

Question: She just made the school soccer team, about how much will she lose then?

Answers: She just made the school soccer team, about how much will she lose then?

Well, she's probably on the high end of the weight range for her height and age. I checked her BMI and it was 25.5 which is classified as overweight. Although, muscle weighs more than fat, so if she is really muscular then she may not be overweight. Talk to her doctor about how much weight she should lose and what her daily calorie intake should be. Make sure she eats lots of fruits and veggies and protein. Try to cut out unhealthy carbs, fats, and sugars. If she drinks soda, try to get rid of that habit too. Tea (with no sugar), water, milk, and organic juice are the healthiest for her. Let her have a treat once in awhile, but not every night. Indulgence is okay in small amounts. Try to also get rid of all chips, sugary cereals, chex mix, and all other full-of-trans-fats snack foods. They are unhealthy snacks with too many calories. You said she plays sports, but if she only does soccer 1 or 2 days a week that isn't enough. Someone her age should excercise 45minutes to 1 hour daily or at least 6 days a week. Goodluck! :))) Make sure she knows the goal is for her to be healthier, not to lose a ton of weight. If she's active, eating right, and overall healthy, then her weight won't matter as much.

im shorter than her and i way 86, im 14.

At 14 I was 5'3 and weighed about 143 pounds, and I was very overweight. I was about 30 - 40lbs overweight from what I should've been.

So yes, I think she is. Its great she is on the soccer team, she will probably lose alot if she eats right too.

I suggest you encourage her to take advantage of this as a way to become healthier.

middle school soccer teams arent exactly known for physical ability. I doubt she will lose any weight. And yes, i think she is overweight.

I am 14-5'3"-89 lbs.
so yes, i think she is overweight, but the soccer team, and eating right should help her a lot!
as long as she's healthy, i dont think weight should matter, Good Luck!

Try out this website, to find out her body mass index- BMI
that should tell you if shes at a healthy weight

http://www.calolive.org/homecooks/bmi.ht...

Go to http://fiberdiet.info scroll to the bottom they have a free body mass calculator...it will calculate her exact healthy weight according to her stats. Hope that helps!

Yes she is overweight. And those girls above who are weighing less than 100 lbs are underweight. Yr. daughter is about 30 lbs over. At 5'3 she should be about 115-120 on average but at 14 probably 110-115. The soccer team is a dble edged sword b/c while she will burn calories running around, she will also be hungrier and not aware of why, so she may eat more w/out realizing it and gain. And as her muscles & stamina increase her weight on a scale may actually go up b/c muscle mass weighs more than fat.
I'm at 5'3" and I was an active involved person, who basically as a teen weighed 114-117, except for the 6-8 mos. I worked at McD's.

Im 12 , 5"tall and i weigh about 86 pounds i love soccer she will lose weight but there is no telling how much she will lose im not going to say you daughter is over weight for people in 7th grade the average weight is about 90-120

yes, the ideal weight for her height is 120 - 125 lbs
