I think it is better. At the very least, there are certain things you should try to buy organic. it definitely should be dairy products like milk, yogurt, cheese, etc. I've read studies that show that the hormones from non-organic dairy are one of the few that actually affect our bodies. You should also buy certain fruit like strawberries and grapes organic, because of the amount of pesticide found in non-organics.

Make sure you always look for the USDA organic stamp on organic products.. that's the only way you can be assured it is truly organic.

as for the pesticides, technically organic food can still be treated with a pesticide . . . the difference is that the pesticide used is digestable by humans . . . so it's NOT bad for us . . . that's why you sometimes hear the argument that organic food still has pesticides. Technically it does, but it is a different form of pesticide . . . one that does keep the bugs away but is NOT harmful to us. Make sense?

Also, the other thing to consider in all of this is that 'organic' is a relative term.. no food is absolutely completely organic... because guess what... pesticides absorb into the ground, get into the water, spread through the air etc. so there is still a small bit of contamination occurring. The difference is that farms that grow organic food go to extreme measures to keep our food as pesticide free as possible.

Sometimes you can find local CSA's (community supported agriculture) to join that are cheaper than buying organic produce in the store..so if you're really interested try to google that and your location and see if you come up with anything. Also, checking around with the local hippies (aka the people who meditate, do yoga, etc) and you might be able to find a group of people that buy in bulk which lowers the cost..or you could investigate starting a group like that on your own.

Some people CAN taste the difference between organic and non organic...and some can't..but that doesn't mean there isn't a difference..it just depends on your sensitivity level ... and there are theories that perhaps the nutritional value of the food (haven't read much on this) is affected by the toxic pesticides used...so from that perspective eating non organic food is essentially eating food devoid of nutrients and vitamins...so IN THEORY you could eat incredibly healthy non organic..and still not be getting all of the vitamins and minerals and nutrients that you think you're getting. Those on the moderate side of all of this say that you can choose to eat certain foods organically and certain foods not organically, depending on if pesticides are used often on that particular item and what the absorption rate is, and if your'e going to eat the skin or not ..

for your body, not wallet

to some degree. it's a good thing that your parents are trying to be greener. it actually saves a lot of energy by switching to organic because you cut costs and emmissions from transportation of those porducts. they're also healthier for you too (the food i mean!).

ya it is better for your health but it can be expensive.

food, yes, in my opinion, because you don't get any chemicals or preservatives, and that's healthier.

but I have no idea about the other stuff, unfortunately :/ I suppose the principle is the same...but for toilet paper, whatever. It's just for wiping.

yes! very good.

No herbicide's or pesticides in the materials or foods.

Only to the extent that they are not suppose to have any pesticides on them. They don't have anymore nutrients than non-organic.

Don' confuse organic with "brown" or "whole grain." Organic just means something's been grown without pesticides or commercial fertilizer.
